District track and field: Toledo Christian boys, Woodmore girls capture titles
5/21/2006PEMBERVILLE - Toledo Christian's boys and Woodmore's girls came away with championships yesterday at the Division III district track and field meet at Eastwood High School.
The Eagles boys team rolled to a title with 134 points. Runner-up Hopewell-Loudon tallied 64, followed by Gibsonburg (48), Fremont St. Joseph (38) and Margaretta (28).
Josh Kaiser won the discus (149-5) and shot put (49-2 1/2) for the Toledo Christian boys.
The Eagles' other champions were Steve Lane in the 3200 (9:44.38) and Kyle Bensch in the long jump (20-10 1/2).
Toledo Christian won the 3200 relay (8:21.26) with Andrew Kelleher, Tyler Boris, Blake Powell and Lane.
The Eagles also took the 800 relay (1:33.18) with Mark Rossol, Bensch, Andrew Bosserman and Marcus Benjamin.
Maumee Valley's Chris Sackmann won in four events. He captured the 110 hurdles (14.62), 300 hurdles (40.75) and 200 (23.63), and ran the anchor leg on the winning 400 relay team (44.81) which also included Stephen Parry, Nathan Stern and Coleman High.
Other winners were Arcadia's Martin Ash in the 100 (11.44), Hopewell-Loudon's Jordan Reinhart in the 400 (51.28), Fremont St. Joseph's Kyle Stierwalt in the 800 (2:01.24) and Aaron Lewis in the pole vault (13-6), and Cardinal Stritch's Garrett Petty in the high jump (6-1).
Hopewell-Loudon's Andrew Brose, Jay McAllister, Keith Slosser and Reinhart won the 1600 relay.
In the girls competition, Woodmore compiled 90 points for the crown. Fremont St. Joseph had 64.5 for second, followed by Cardinal Stritch (64), Lakota (54.5) and Ottawa Hills (50).
Emily Pendleton led the champions by winning the discus (172-8) and shot put (39-6 1/4).
Maumee Valley's Kristen Meister won the 100 hurdles (15.23) and the high jump (5-5).
Elmwood's Kaye Bockbrader took the 1600 (5:19.27) and 3200 (11:40.79).
Cardinal Stritch's Katie Bochi won the 300 hurdles (46.84) and anchored the winning 1600 relay team (4:08.00) which included Julia Borysiak, Amanda Miller and Sarah Takacs.
Fremont St. Joseph's Molly Wise won the 200 (26.64) and 400 (58.10). Ottawa Hills' Christy Reams took the 800 (2:19.98).
Lakota's Jessie Naderer captured the pole vault (10-8).
Northwood placed first in the 400 relay (52.31) with Alana Miller, Rachael Ploch, Megan McGaharan and Laryn Ziegler.
St. Joseph won the 800 relay (1:50.67) with Lauren Winans, Stephanie Moss, Alisha Holman and Alyssa Reiter.
AYERSVILLE - Delta's boys and Edgerton's girls captured D-III championships at Ayersville High.
Delta scored 117 points to cruise in the boys competition. Runner-up Patrick Henry had 76, Montpelier 64, Liberty Center 61 and Hicksville 46.
The Panthers got victories from Korbin Smith (400 meters, 52.08), Evan Gaynor (3200, 10:02.29), Zach Cannon (pole vault, 12-0) and Derrick Vicars (discus, 141-03).
Delta's 3200 relay team of Brian Timpe, Gaynor, Smith and Jeremy Lee also won.
Fayette's Heath Armstrong captured titles in the 800 (1:58.94) and 1600 (4:24.83).
Patrick Henry won three relay events - the 400, 800 and 1600.
Continental's Joel Matson won the 100 (11.36) and long jump (20-3 3/4).
Other winners were Continental's Dustin Geckle (300 hurdles, 41.49), Hicksville's Charlie Peffley (200, 23.30), Ayersville's Mark Manon (high jump, 6-0) and Edon's Matthew Smith (shot put, 50-8 3/4).
In the girls competition, Edgerton scored 100 points for the title to runner-up Pettisville's 91. Archbold had 63, followed by Liberty Center (48.5) and Montpelier (47.5).
Edgerton's Natasha Flower won the 100 (12.75) and 200 (26.92).
The Bulldogs also won the 400 relay, 800 relay and 1600 relay. Archbold captured the 3200 relay.
Pettisville's Alyssa Ritchey was a triple-winner, taking the 100 hurdles (15.87) and 300 hurdles (47.66) and the long jump (15-9).
Other winners were Ayersville's Kristen Nicely in the 400 (1:02.21) and Audra Brown in the 3200 (11:44.23), Archbold's Katrina Gobrogge in the 800 (2:27.12), Hicksville's Nora Stigrot in the high jump (5-2), Patrick Henry's Haley Badenhop in the pole vault (10-0) and Mykal Imbrock in the shot put (38-2), and Montpelier's Brie Thompson in the discus (119-02).
SPENCERVILLE - Liberty-Benton swept the boys and girls team titles.
The Eagles boys won with 112 points. Bluffton and Arlington each finished with 73. Columbus Grove had 70.
Liberty-Benton's boys won just one event, the 3200 relay (8:24.17), with Phil Jackson, Jonn Cody, Ty Vaupel and Sam Streacker.
Ottoville's Curtis Heitmeyer won the 100 hurdles (15.29) and 300 hurdles (41.0)
Arlington's Jared Krout captured the 110 (11.27), 400 (48.82) and 200 (22.69).
Columbus Grove's Heath Nicles won the pole vault at 15-0.
Among the girls, L-B won with 149.5 points to second-place Columbus Grove's 136.
The Eagles got titles from Laura Robb (100, 12.98), Anna Farmer (1600, 5:20.59), Kesha Brooks (800, 2:20.04) and Brynn Chaskel (3200, 11:55.33).
L-B won the 3200 relay (10:11.48) with Kailee Whitaker, Farmer, Tracy Newcomer and Brooks); 800 relay (1:46.85) with Megan Burkett, Angie Rettig, Brooks and Robb); 400 relay (51.30) with Burkett, Rettig, Allison Boguski and Robb; and 1600 relay (4:05.49) with Robb, Whitaker, Boguski and Brooks.
Ottoville's Stacie Wannemacher captured the discus (131-5) and shot put (42-10 1/4).
Columbus Grove's Jenna Oard took the long jump (16-3) and pole vault (12-2).
Cory-Rawson's Dana Ford won the 200 (26.85).
