City: Lehman sparks Central

Cory Lehman knocked down four free throws in the final quarter to help Central Catholic hold off visiting St. Marys Memorial 60-51 last night in boys basketball.

The Roughriders had cut the Irish lead to three points on two 3-pointers by Adam Johns.

Lehman scored 15 points, including two 3-pointers for Central, which was led by Sam Bastian's 22 points.

Johns led St. Marys with 13 points.

Brent Meredith scored 23 points, Robert Jackson added 15 and Sean Pettaway 13 as the Indians romped at home.

Damon Kontat led Maumee with eight points, although nine Panthers scored.

CLEVELAND - The Spartans outscored East 15-7 in the second quarter, then held on thanks to the fine free throw shooting of Juan Hamilton in the final period.

Hamilton made 9 of 10 free throws in the fourth quarter to finish with a game-high 19 points.

Chris Wilson posted a double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds for Start, while Jeff Williams had 11 points.

SANDUSKY - William Buford scored 19 points, Brad Sandridge added 15 and Carlton Fowlkes 10 to pace Libbey.

Kelsey Williams led Sandusky with 21 points.

A 26-13 second-quarter advantage gave the Cowboys a 40-32 halftime lead.

Buford sealed the victory with an eight-point fourth quarter. He also grabbed 10 rebounds.

Brad Burton led Libbey on the boards with 11 rebounds.
