Big rally helps Genoa top Lake

MILLBURY Genoa trailed 15-2 after the first quarter but held Lake to just four points in each of the next two quarters last night to rally for a 56-45 Suburban Lakes League boys basketball victory.

Six players fouled out of the game for Lake as the Comets made 25 of 41 free throws. The Flyers hit only 4 of 8.

The Comets came back after their slow start to lead 20-19 at halftime, then pulled out to a 35-23 lead after three quarters.

Chris Bassitt tallied 14 points and Adam Schumacher added 13 for the Comets (3-1, 3-1 SLL).

Jason Robinson led the Flyers (1-3, 1-5) with 15.

ELMWOOD 74, GIBSONBURG 58

BLOOMDALE Ryan Rothenbuhler led Elmwood with 20. Dustin Reynolds had 19 and P.J. Shank 14.

Matt Kreglow poured in 31 points for Gibsonburg.

OTSEGO 52, EASTWOOD 45

PEMBERVILLE Steve Weisenborn scored 18 points for Otsego.

Tyler Nye added 14 for the Knights.

Mike Oberdick led the Eagles with 14. Chad Fairbanks had 12 and Josh Fairbanks 10.

The Knights jumped ahead 14-13 after the first quarter.

In the second and third quarter, each team scored eight points, then Otsego pulled away in the fourth.

WOODMORE 54, LAKOTA 39

KANSAS Aaron Harr paced Woodmore with 14 points. Corey Witker added 10.

Victor Magallanes led Lakota with 11.

TINORA 57, HILLTOP 34

DEFIANCE Taylor Wiemken led Tinora with 12 points.

Caleb Westfall scored 18 for Hilltop.
