City: Whitmer gets 25 from Smith in win

Ryne Smith poured in 25 points, and Dave Sweeney 19 as Whitmer (3-2) topped Northview 63-56 at home.

Derek Andrzejczak scored 22 for the Wildcats, including 16 in the first half. Brian Koehl added 11.

Northview (3-3) had 12 offensive rebounds to Whitmer's one in the first half, but the Panthers made 15 of 22 shots to the Wildcats' 13 of 41.

Northview took the lead briefly in the third quarter and stayed close until Whitmer made six straight free throws in the final minute.

Whitmer (3-2) was outscored 22-18 in 2-point field goals, but was deadly from long range with a 6-1 advantage in 3-pointers.

St. John's 49,

Bowling Green 40

St. John's Jesuit broke open the game by outscoring the Bobcats 14-4 in the second quarter.

Sean Patterson scored 14 points for the Titans (4-1).

Bowling Green was led by Blaise Markey's 11 points. Jordan Fortney and A.J. Donnell added 10 apiece.

Clay 71, Southview 60

A.J. Achter scored a game-high 39 points, including 14 in the fourth quarter as Clay (3-2) defeated Southview (4-3) at home. Zac Taylor added 16 points and 9 blocks and Drew Kuns scored 12 points for the Eagles. Tim Hausfeld scored 16 points and Shaun Joplin added 15 for Southview.

Central Catholic 40

AKRON - Central Catholic was overpowered on the road last night as St. Vincent-St. Mary drilled eight 3-pointers and outrebounded the Fighting Irish 41-29 to get the victory.

SV-SM (2-3) was paced by Greg Preer, who scored 15 points. Cameron Joyce chipped in with 13, including three 3-pointers. Central Catholic's Sam Bastian scored nine points, and Bruce Huntley added eight.
