Wilson hits winner for Spartans

Chris Wilson hit a 10-foot jumper with seven seconds remaining in the game to give Start a 54-53 boys basketball victory last night at Southview.

Wilson led the 6-1 Spartans with 16 points and Juan Hamilton added 12.

Tim Hausfeld led Southview with 11 points, including three 3-pointers.

ST. JOHN'S 40

FT. WALTON, Fla. - Joe Jakubowski scored 11 points but St. John's Jesuit fell to 4-2 with a loss in a holiday tournament to a team from Hoover, Ala., which improved to 12-2. Spain Park outscored the Titans 27-13 in the middle quarters.

Visiting Northview (5-3) got 17 points from Danny Jaques, including five 3-pointers, and 14 from Derek Andrzejczak.

Joe Stockdale led Bowsher (2-3) with 11 points and Adrien Lucienne added 10.

OTTAWA-GLANDORF 70, PERRYSBURG 56

OTTAWA - Ronnie Maynard led Ottawa-Glandorf with 21 points while Perysburg got 27 from Andrew Wood and 12 from Glen Empie.

ROSSFORD 54, STRITCH 53

Justin Wagner hit a 15-foot jumper with 1.7 seconds left to give visiting Rossford a win.

Jordan Nichlos led the Bulldogs (5-2) with 20 points and Tommy Kralovic added 14.

Nate Cassidy scored 15, Eric McCloskey 13 and Jim Gallaher 10 for Cardinal Stritch (4-2).

TIFFIN - Aaron Hurd scored 23 points and Columbian outscored Maumee 23-16 in the second quarter.

Steve Hesley and Zach Matyi scored 12 points apiece for Maumee and Tig Dybala added 10.

GENOA 59, DANBURY 54

LAKESIDE - Chris Bassitt scored 19 points, Issac Peloquin added 10 and the Comets (5-1) outscored the Lakers 24-16 in the third quarter to win.

Ben Cantu led Danbury (2-4) with 20 points.

LAKE 47, NORTHWOOD 45

MILLBURY - Mike Curry made a layup with eight seconds remaining to put Lake up two, then 6-foot-9 Adam Ashman blocked a layup attempt by Northwood. Curry led all scorers with 21 points. Michael Waddell led Northwood with 15.

WAITE 74, WESTLAND 37

GALLOWAY, Ohio - Waite remained unbeaten (6-0) with five in double figures - Natasha Howard with 13 points, Courtney Jackson with 12, Anedria Allen with 11 and Shareese Ulis and Kenya Middlebrooks with 10 apiece.

Visiting Notre Dame stayed unbeaten (7-0) as Patrice Lalor scored 13 points and Whitney Shindorf added 10.

Springfield (6-4) got eight points from Sarah Dean.

Jordyn Sadowski had 15 points and 15 rebounds for 6-1 Anthony Wayne. Ashley Bromley led the Generals in scoring with 20 points and Allison Papenfuss made it three in double figures with 10. Rachelle Allen paced Whitmer (3-6) with 11 points.

PERRYSBURG 56,

Nicole Parrish scored 20 points and Ashley Parrish added 13 as visiting Perrysburg (5-2) pounded St. Ursula (3-5) with a 37-16 advantage in the second half. Allison Schloz paced St. Ursula with 10 points.

DAYTON - Shaquala Rushing led Scott with 12 points but the Bulldogs fell to 3-4.

CENTRAL 60, LIBBEY 14

Brianna Jones scored 19 points to pace Central Catholic. Enaisha Barnes led Libbey with six.

STRITCH 42, ROSSFORD 29

Cardinal Stritch took a commanding 22-7 halftime lead and cruised to victory. Katie Bochi led the Cardinals (5-3) with 12 points. Katie Keller (15 points) and Kelsey Wiegand (12 points) were two of just three Rossford scorers.
