Oak Harbor defeats Genoa on 2 touchdowns by Baker

OAK HARBOR Oak Harbor led 14-0 after the first quarter Friday night in its game with Genoa when storms disrupted play.

When play resumed last night, Genoa did all the scoring but not quite enough as the Rockets prevailed 14-7.

Tom Baker had scored on runs of five and eight yards Friday.

Last night, Derrick Vicars, son of new Genoa coach Mike Vicars, returned an interception 40 yards for a score.

The Rockets gained 220 yards rushing with Baker getting 135 on 24 carries. Oak Harbor added 138 passing as Josh Stone hit 5 of 9 and suffered just the one interception.

Vicars led Genoa with 39 yards on 16 carries as the Comets were limited to 66 yards rushing. They added 35 passing.

GIBSONBURG Johnny Crooks had a five-yard touchdown run with 19 seconds remaining to give Ottawa Hills a road victory.

Crooks, who also had a 31-yard touchdown run, finished with 17 carries for 67 yards. Teammate Andy Stancati had seven carries for 82 yards.

Gibsonburg took a 10-7 lead with 4:06 remaining on Tyler Nagy s 25-yard field goal.

The Golden Bears Avery Potridge rushed 28 times for 103 yards.

ELMORE Cory Wightman caught a 63-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Wolf with 2:35 remaining to give Port Clinton a win on the road.

Wolf was 6-of-19 for 196 yards, including a 99-yard strike to Allen Tigner in the third quarter.

Woodmore s Chris Noe was 11 of 24 for 58 yards and a touchdown.

Jarrod Cox had two interceptions for Port Clinton and Wightman had one.

MILLBURY Swanton scored all 21 points in the final quarter including the final two touchdowns as it defeated Lake 21-18.

Swanton s Justin Bezeau recovered a fumble in the end zone on a botched punt for the winning touchdown.

Ben Gustafson led the Swanton attack both in the air and on the ground, running 14 times for 58 yards and going 4-of-7 for 127 yards and two touchdowns in the air. Tim Van Newhouse hauled in a 50 yard pass for the first Swanton score and Louis Miller caught a 48-yard TD pass.

Tim DeCant led Lake with 16 carries for 85 yards rushing and two touchdowns, one rushing and the other a 51-yard pass from Mike Matthews.

PEMBERVILLE Eastwood scored 21 points in the third quarter to beat Clyde.

Jeremy Foster scored on an 80-yard run for the winning points.

Foster also scored on runs of 8 and 14 yards and finished with 231 yards on 37 carries.

Mark Schult scored the other Eastwood touchdown on a 72-yard pass from Eric Rutherford.

Clyde s Alex Gillette hit 19 of 30 passes for 241 yards and three touchdowns.
