Sidelines: Games to watch

• Records: Whitmer (2-1); Start (1-2)

• Outlook: It s the latest installment in the Battle of Tremainsville Road. Running back Julian Nash ran for 1,173 yards and 10 touchdowns for Start last season but plays Whitmer this season. On the other side of the field, Start coach Pat Gucciardo Jr. played for his father for the Panthers in the 1980s. One of the senior Gucciardo s assistants was current Spartans defensive coordinator Rob Rose.

• Records: Elmwood (2-1); Genoa (2-1)

• Outlook: Two of the preseason favorites for the Suburban Lakes League crown collide in the first week of the league season. Both teams have rebounded from opening losses. Elmwood s Thomas Curtis threw for 181 yards and three scores last week, leading the Royals past North Baltimore 33-0. and Genoa s Derrick Vicars ran for six touchdowns in a 61-14 rout of Port Clinton.

• Records: Patrick Henry (3-0, 2-0 NWOAL); Liberty Center (3-0, 2-0)

• Outlook: These rivals have more than just Henry County bragging rights riding on this outcome. The winner will be the lone unbeaten in the Northwest Ohio Athletic League. And both have been dominating in the early weeks of league play, with the Patriots outscoring the opposition 111-0 while the Tigers have hammered their first two league foes 118-34.
