Bowling Green knows how to win Northern Lakes League golf championships.

The Bobcats, led by Kyle Laberdee and Caroline Powers, claimed a third straight league championship after posting a team score of 300 at the NLL golf tournament yesterday at Riverby Hills Golf Course.

The victory paired with a league dual meet record of 6-1 secured the latest league championship for the Bobcats.

"I think the kids played really well today," Bobcats coach Chris Dill said.

"Our conference is so balanced and competitive that we needed to play well today."

Laberdee and Powers, both juniors, paced the Bobcats with solid rounds of 72 and 74, respectively.

Jaryd Motsinger, the only senior on the team, and Collin Hoops each shot 77 while Brooks Gardner came through with an 81.

"We knew we were the best team going out there," Laberdee said. "We just had to go out and show it."

Southview's Tim Hausfeld produced a stellar round of 69 to earn medal honors while leading the Cougars to a second-place tournament finish with a score of 304.

Perrysburg was third at 312, followed by Northview 314, Anthony Wayne and Maumee 319 each, Springfield 327, and Rossford 363.

The combined results from the play at Riverby and dual meet records allowed for BG to finish on top of the league's point system with 36, followed by Southview with 27, Perrysburg 26, Maumee 22, Anthony Wayne and Northview 21 each, Springfield 8 and Rossford 3.

"We had a really bad start today but they kept it together and came back good on the back side," Dill said.

BG's coach credited Laberdee for steady play to lead a group comprised of four juniors and one senior.

"He's a very good player," Dill said of Laberdee, who, along with Powers, earned NLL first-team honors. "He's been solid for us all year and this was a capper for us."

Southview's Hausfeld and Kurt Kincade (73) also made the first team as did Perrysburg's Erik Hoops (74) and Northview's Ryan Stansley (75).
