Girls basketball: Waite opens up quickly in solid win over Start

Waite opened it's season last night by defeating Start 50-38.

Waite started fast, leading 16-4 after the first quarter. Both teams scored the same amount in the remaining three quarters, giving Waite the 12-point victory.

The Indians were led by Natasha Howard, who recorded a double-double with 19 points and 19 rebounds. Start was led by Maleeka Kynard with 11 points.

CENTRAL CATHOLIC 72, BOWSHER 49

Central Catholic sprinted out to a 22-7 lead after the first quarter and built it to 42-22 at the half.

Central was led by Katelyn Nowacki with 16 points. Sharise Calhoun added 13 for the Irish. Ashley Sujkowski and Danielle Lewis added 11 apiece.

Tiffani Blackman led Bowsher with 16 points and Amanda Gregory had 11.

ST. URSULA 53, SCOTT 45

St. Ursula was led by the Lorton sisters, who scored 30 of the Arrows' 53 total points at Scott. Hillary scored 18 and Holly 12. Kendra Rison led Scott with 16 points.

NOTRE DAME 70, ROGERS 23

Notre Dame scored more points in the first quarter (25) than Rogers did in the entire game.

The Eagles were led by Dominique Pryor, Ashley Okonta and Jasmine Blanton, who all scored 10 points.
