Jorgensen, Brown win in D-I; Aubry takes D-II title

Ryan Jorgensen of St. John's and Jeff Brown of Waite captured singles titles yesterday in Division I tennis sectionals held at Jermain Park.

Jorgensen defeated teammate Devon Sbrocchi 6-4, 6-3 to win his title.

In the third-place match,

Connor Majdalani of St. John's beat Mike King of Southview 6-4, 6-2

The doubles crown went to Steve Smith and Eric North of St. John's, who defeated teammates Jesef Pontasch and Jacob Kuhn 6-2, 6-0

Derek Mason and Nile Kamlani of Springfield placed third by beating Darren Ng and Adrian Ng of Southview 6-3, 6-7, 6-3.

In the other sectional, Brown topped Tom Dever of Central Catholic 6-1, 6-1 in the final.

Kenny Clapsaddle of Waite beat Andrew Flis of St. Francis 6-0, 6-3 for third place.

In doubles, Jay Kenny and Casey O'Connell of St. Francis won 6-0, 6-3 in the final over Mick Fagans and Aaron

Buschman of Maumee.

Tyler Cronin and Aaron Radtke of Maumee won the third-place match with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Jon Findley and Kevin Blank of St. Francis.

The top four in singles and doubles advance to the district.

•ADA - Alex Hager of Wapakoneta defeated Seth Reed of Findlay in the singles championship at the Division I sectional at Ohio Northern.

Perrysburg's Andy Gunkler won the third-place match with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over teammate David Hoops.

In doubles, Drew Jack and Joel Burget of Findlay won the title with a 6-2, 4-6, 4-2 (retired) victory over teammates Damien Schuck and Jordan Schuck.

Bowling Green's Lewis Johnson and Davood Dadfar placed third with a 7-6 (3), 5-7, 7-6 (1) win over Perrsyburg's Jeff Kohler and Jon Eckel.

•SANDUSKY - Lexington's Nicky Wong won a Division I singles sectional final with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Sandusky's

Travis Steinemann.

In doubles, Clay's Trevor Ault and Dan Miller lost 6-4, 7-6 in the third-place match to Ashland's Conner Lesher and Evan Long but still advanced to the district.

ARCHBOLD - Ottawa Hills junior Joey Aubry, the third seed, defeated teammate Evan Bechtel, a freshman, to win a singles championship at a Division II tennis sectional.

Aubry upended Bechtel

6-3, 6-4 in the title match after knocking off Eyad Jaara of Maumee Valley 0-6, 6-0, 6-2 in the semifinals.

Bechtel defeated Randy Sweeney of Napoleon 6-0, 6-0 in the semifinals.

Jaara topped Sweeney 6-0, 6-0 for third place.

In doubles, Oliver Rorick and Aaron Delman of Maumee Valley won the title with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Ryan Evarts and Mark Hotz of Rossford.

In the third-place match,

David Wolff and Sushil Dasani of Ottawa Hills won 6-2, 6-2 over Tyler Uphaus and Braden

Wachtmann of Wauseon.

The top four in singles and doubles advance to the district at Port Clinton.

•PORT CLINTON - Oak Harbor freshman Greg LaFountain won the singles title at a Division II sectional with a 6-3, 7-6 (2) victory over Bellevue's Tyler Buchanan in the final.

Oak Harbor's Adam Lenke took third place with a 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 win over Sandusky Perkins' Matt Weiss.

In doubles, Paul Carman and Blake Troller of Port Clinton captured the crown with a 2-6, 7-6 (4), 7-5 win over teammates Jamie Que and Tim McLean.

Third place went to Joe Leffler and Chad Warner of Napoleon, who beat Austin Opfer and Evan Slattery of Sandusky St. Mary 7-5, 6-2.

The top four in singles and doubles advance to the district.
