Edon edges OH; Stritch wins

Alex Sonneberger's 16-yard pass to Zach Sidle with 3:27 left in the third quarter last night proved to be the game-winner as visiting Edon slipped past Ottawa Hills 14-10 in a Toledo Area Athletic Conference game.

Sonneberger finished 3-of-9 passing for 34 yards for the Bombers (1-4, 1-1 TAAC).

Nasri Hajjar led Ottawa Hills (1-4, 1-1) with 103 rushing yards on 21 carries.

Jimmy Zimmerman completed 11 of 21 passes for 178 yards and scored on a 1-yard run to give the Green Bears a 10-8 lead at the half.

LAKESIDE - After Danbury scored on the opening kickoff, Cardinal Stritch responded with four touchdowns in the first quarter as the Cardinals picked up their first win of the season.

Josh Palmer tossed three touchdown passes and added another on the ground for Stritch (1-4, 1-1). Palmer was 9 of 19 passing for 171 yards and ran the ball 12 times for 137 yards.

Aaron Manders had touchdown receptions of 44 and 6 yards, and Will Kamelesky reeled in a 22-yard scoring strike.

Max Wuest had a 54-yard interception return for Stritch.

Justin Chapman returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for Danbury. The Lakers (0-5, 0-2) also scored on five-yard runs by Mike Bossetti and Steve Fannin.

Visiting Troy Christian scored first, but Northwood (4-1) rallied off 52 unanswered points for the nonconference win.

Kyle Gunn was 11 of 16 passing for 171 yards with an 18-yard pass to Chris Keith and one interception. Gunn also rushed for 138 yards on 11 carries, including a 66-yard scamper in the second quarter.

Nate James added 60 yards on seven carries and two TDs. Keith had 80 yards receiving on five catches.

Northwood finished with 514 total yards (323 rushing) to Troy Christian's 175.

Chad Beals carried the load for the Cadets (4-1, 2-0), rushing for 202 yards on 21 carries.

Beals scored on runs of 2, 8 and 3 yards in the first half to give Hilltop a 27-10 advantage.

Cadets quarterback Josh Westfall was 7 of 15 passing for 104 yards.

Graham Miller led Toledo Christian (2-3, 0-1) with 85 rushing yards on six carries, including a 44-yard TD run.

Nick Rightnowar completed 16 of 23 passes for 176 yards and one TD, a 16-yard toss to David Westmeyer, for the Eagles.
