HURON, Ohio - Southview held off Medina Highland for a 28-21 win to claim a Division II regional championship Friday night at Huron Memorial Stadium.

The undefeated Cougars (13-0) produced a goal-line stand in the final minute of action to secure the win over the Hornets (11-2). It's the first regional title for the Cougars since finishing state runners-up in 1999.

Southview's Dylan Coleman and Jimmy Hall denied Highland running back Chris Snook from going airborne on a fourth-and-goal play at the 1-yard line with 53 seconds remaining and the Cougars leading by the eventual final score.

Southview quarterback Alex Pidcock, who rushed for 91 yards on 27 carries,

scored on runs of 3 and 5 yards in the second half. Pidcock, who also

completed 7 of 13 passes for 149 yards, also connected with Shaun Joplin on

a 41-yard touchdown pass in the first half that gave the Cougars a 14-0

lead.

Michael Hehl, the Cougars' backup quarterback, gave Southview a 7-0 lead by

scoring on a three-yard run early in the first quarter.

BOWLING GREEN Genoa avoided some early damage in its Division IV regional football final Friday night, then added an extra wrinkle to get its offense rolling to a 40-21 victory over Ottawa-Glandorf before a crowd of 4,065 at Perry Stadium.

The first of two first-half interceptions by senior district lineman of the year Ryan Bless enabled the fourth-ranked Comets (13-0) to keep the Titans off the board on their initial drive.

Then, junior quarterback Matt Bassitt, who averages just nine pass attempts per game, completed 10 of 12 for 152 yards in the first half alone, which ultimately freed up Genoa s vaunted wing-T ground game.

FREMONT - Andrew Brickner scored four touchdowns and Hopewell-Loudon teammate Tyler Brown threw for 253 yards to lead the Chieftains in a rout of Norwalk St. Paul 42-21 Friday night in Division VI regional play here at Don Paul Stadium.

Brickner had a pair of TDs on pass receptions, 1 rushing, and on a 75-yard intercption. Brown was 20 for 30 in the air, including two touchdown passes to Brickner.

MONROE - Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central scored a pair of touchdowns in the

final four minutes to claim an 18-14 victory over Manchester in the Division

6 regional championship at Navarre Field.

The winning touchdown came after the Falcons' Chad LaPlante caused a

Manchester fumble on a kickoff, and Shane Dimeff recovered the ball on the

Flying Dutchmens' 29.

St. Mary quarterback then found the end zone on a six-yard run, five plays later for the

game-winning points with 2:07 to play.

Manchester drove to the Falcons' 31, but Nathan Gonyea intercepted a Logan

Zigila pass to secure the win.
