Girls basketball: Southview moves to 4-1

Jenna Vermilya scored 13 points, Taylor Hall added 11, and Southview paid particular attention to Whitmer's Lauren Campbell to claim a 47-39 girls basketball victory last night at home.

Campbell was held to seven points. Malisa Hoak and Shelby Ramirez added seven points each for the Panthers.

The Cougars improved to 4-1.

WAITE 80, BOWSHER 42

Natasha Howard led four Indians in double figures with a game-high 20 points.

Amanda Gregory scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds for Waite (3-2, 3-1 City). Courtney Jackson added 11 points and Brooke Hunt had 10.

Taylor Brown scored 11 for the Rebels.

SCOTT 77, WOODWARD 20

Shekinha Alexander pumped in a game-high 20 points to lead the Bulldogs (6-2, 4-0 City) over the visiting Polar Bears. Iesha Pernell finished with 16 and Shayla Yancey added 12.

CLAY 75, ROGERS 53

The Eagles jumped out to an early lead and coasted at home.

Megan Agoston paced Clay (3-3, 3-1 City) with 23 points. Jessica Achter added 19 and Lauren Taylor had 14.

Latisha White tossed in 13 points to pace Rogers. Dominique Savage added 12.

START 59, LIBBEY 34

Azia Bishop dropped a game-high 19 points to pace the undefeated Spartans.

Yolanda Richardson came through with 12 and Maleeka Kynard added 10 for Start (6-0, 4-0 City).

Macketta Allen led Libbey (1-5, 1-3) with 18.
