Glover helps Waite stay unbeaten in City League

Darius Glover scored 17 points and added 10 rebounds as Waite got by Libbey 56-51 last night to earn the top seed for the boys City League basketball playoffs.

Antonio Allen pulled down 14 rebounds for Waite, 13-1 overall and 9-0 in the league.

David McDonald totaled 19 points for the Cowboys (6-7, 4-5).

ST. JOHN'S 75, BOWSHER 45

Michael Taylor and Jay Springs each hit three 3-pointers and scored 14 points apiece to pace St. John's (11-5, 7-2 CL). The Titans hit 10 3-pointers.

T.J. Anderson led the visiting Rebels with 11 points.

CENTRAL 70, WOODWARD 41

Central Catholic (10-6, 6-3 CL) put 10 players in the scoring column led by Doug Williams and Tony Mays each with 14. Bruce Huntley added 12 and Mark Lewis 10. Robert Oliver had 17 points and Antonio Binkins 10 for Woodward (2-13, 0-9).

WHITMER 51, CLAY 50

The Panthers trailed by two with 2.3 seconds to go when Dareon Jones hit a jumper from the foul line for the game winner.

Clay got a 3-pointer off before the buzzer, but it rimmed out.

Kenny Hayes scored 13 and Zak Teel had 11 for Whitmer (5-11, 3-6 CL).

Terrence Huggins and Terrelle Huggins each scored 13 and Matt Swaim had 11 for Clay (3-11, 2-6).

ST. FRANCIS 52, SCOTT 49

Jarrod Horton paced the Knights with 18 points, Storm Stanley added 12 and Brody Henry 10.

Vernon Freeman kept the Bulldogs in the contest with a game-high 22 points.

OTSEGO 52, MAUMEE 44

TONTOGANY - Down 21-17 at the half, Otsego rallied to outscore the Panthers 17-11 in the third quarter.

Matt Weisenborn scored 23 points, Tony Gerwin added 12 and R.J. Hefflinger 11 to lead the Knights (8-5).

Damon Contat had 18 points and Anthony Barnum chipped in with 16 for Maumee (2-14).

LAKE 68, BETTSVILLE 56

MILLBURY - Anthony Lumbreras led all scorers with 22 points to pace the Flyers (4-12).

Alex Geisel scored 12, while Ahmed Ismael and Kyler Lucas had 10 apiece for Lake.

Andrew Hartsel led Bettsville (5-9) with 17 points and Troy Blausey chipped in with 11.

OTTAWA HILLS 67,

NEW RIEGEL 46

Phillip Beans scored a game-high 23 points for the Green Bears in the home win.

Ottawa Hills (12-2) also got 20 points from Eliot Browarsky and 12 from J.J. Buckey.

Joey Dillon and Lee Kelbley each scored 12 points for New Riegel (12-4).

TOLEDO CHRISTIAN 100,

Eleven players got into the scoring column as the Eagles hit the century mark at home.

Ethan Michael led the way with 30 points, and Grant Sims and Jeremy Weemes each scored 16.

Stephen Behan led Emmanuel with 18 and Tony Behan added 12.

CARDINAL STRITCH 78,

NORTHWOOD 62

Justin Staler poured in 24 points to lead three Cardinals (9-7, 6-4 TAAC) in double figures. Johnny Newis added 19 points and Will Kamelesky finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Ryan Canaday paced Northwood 24 points.

MAUMEE VALLEY 27

The Hawks slowed the game down at home but Danbury prevailed.

Michael Hamann led Danbury with 11 points. Carter Bayer scored 13 to pace Maumee Valley.

EVERGREEN 55,

HAMLER - Lucas Pennington scored 16 points, Chad Mossing had 14 and Zac Oswald and Brock Bates each added 10 as Evergreen took command early. Josh Amanza led Patrick Henry with 10. Evergreen shot 52 percent from the field (18 of 35).

DEXTER 59, BEDFORD 56

TEMPERANCE, Mich. - Stefan Elslager scored 23 points and Dan Newell added 16 to lead Dexter.

Matt Lazette had 17 points, Ricky Rightnowar 12 and Tyler Shock 10 for the Mules (7-6).
