City League: Start defeats Scott with surge in OT

Start outscored Scott 18-4 in overtime last night to top the Bulldogs 77-63 and improve to 8-3 in City League play.

Anthony Henderson led the Spartans (13-5) with 27 points. Devin Russell added 19, while Demond Crisp and Marcus Gaines each chipped in with 10.

Scott led the visiting Spartans 27-20 at the half, but the Bulldogs were unable to hold onto their momentum and were outscored in each successive period.

Vernon Freeman was the high scorer for the Bulldogs (5-13, 4-7) with 20 points, including three 3-pointers. Owen Dotson added 18, and Sheron Allen scored 17.

Leading 27-25 at the break, Waite took control by outscoring the visiting Panthers 23-19 in third quarter and cruised.

Darius Glover had 17 points and 15 rebounds for the Indians (14-3, 10-1), and Ke-Sean and Dishon Harris added 15 points apiece, with Dishon also grabbing 12 boards. Antonio Allen also pulled down 12 rebounds, and David Butte finished with 11 assists.

Andrew Kroll led Whitmer (5-13, 3-8) with 17 points, Kenny Hayes chipped in with 16 and Mike Szymanski 11.

Bruce Huntley scored 23 points, Drew Lehman added 13 and Nate Hobbs had 11 for Central Catholic (12-6, 8-3) on Senior Night at the Sullivan Center.

Terrance Huggins led visiting Clay (4-13, 3-8) with 20 points.

Both teams shot well from the free throw line, the Irish hitting 9-of-11 and the Eagles 7-of-10.

The Rebels, down by 14 at the end of the opening quarter, stormed back with 61 points in the second half to win at home.

T.J. Anderson paced Bowsher (3-8, 5-11) with 31 points, Robert Davis added 22 and Justin Neptune and Jerome Davis 13 and 11, respectively.

Ray Hooker was tops for the Polar Bears (0-11, 2-15) with 23 points while Robert Oliver contributed 20.
