Southview, Rogers take tourney wins

Southview defeated Notre Dame 47-39 and Rogers topped Whitmer 41-38 last night at Clay in a girls Division I sectional basketball doubleheader.

Tiffany Scott paced Southview with 17 points and Ariel Gaston had 10 for Southview.

Jasmine Blanton scored 24 points for Notre Dame.

Three players did all the scoring for Rogers - Jasmine Crosby 17, Dominique Savage 16 and Latisha White eight. Shelby Ramirez paced Whitmer with 16 and Laura Campbell had 13 - and only four Panthers scored.

St. Ursula made more 3-point shots than Northview, 5-3, but the Wildcats had a lot more firepower going for them, taking a 24-17 halftime lead at Central Catholic and then outscoring St. Ursula 33-12 in the second half.

Olivia Fouty led the well-balanced Northview (16-5) attack with 19 points as 12 players scored. Holly Lorton led the Arrows (4-15) with nine.

Hayley Williford and Liz Hammer each scored 19 points and Brittany Davis had 18 to lead Bowling Green past Bowsher at Central Catholic.

Golden Brown led the Rebels in scoring with 21 points. Ciara Hudson chipped in with 13.

BOWLING GREEN - Clay outscored Findlay 12-9 in the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime, but the Trojans took a 5-3 advantage in the overtime period to record the victory. Danielle Sallsburry scored 17 points and Dannyel Butte 15 for Findlay. Jeessica Achter scored 13 and Lauren Taylor 12 for Clay.

BOWLING GREEN - Anthony Wayne turned up its defense to allow Springfield just three points in the second quarter and two in the third, but the big news for the of the night for the Generals was the return of Allison Papenfuss.

The returning All-NLL player who is headed for Bowling Green State University was injured before the season, then played in parts of two games in a holiday tournament in the Columbus area where she suffered another injury and has been out until now. Papenfuss scored 15 points in just 12 minutes.

Lauren Roy led Springfield with eight points.

Emily Junga and Kyle Rubini scored 10 points apiece and 11 Panthers scored in a victory at Swanton. Shenita Lane paced Woodward with eight points.

OLD FORT - Sara Lipstraw paced Oak Harbor with 17 points, including 8-for-8 shooting at the free throw line. Kayla Diefenthaler added 11 points and Abby Zurvalec had 10.

Bethany Buchanan led Port Clinton with 14 points.

OLD FORT - Brooke Gottfried scored 18 points and the Eagles hit 16 of 22 free throws to the Truckors' 7-of-20.

NEW RIEGEL - Aja Hall scored 21 points but Fostoria fell.

At Northwood, Jamie Limes scored five points in overtime to spark the Knights' victory. She hit a 3-pointer and a pair of foul shots to account for half of Otsego's 10 points during the extra period.

Baley Bernthisel carried the Knights during regulation and finished with a game-high 24 points.

Danielle Bezeau, who swished a 3-pointer to tie the score at 38 with 2.7 seconds left in the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime, finished with 13 points for Swanton. Paige Onweller also scored 13 points for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs outscored the Cardinals 17-6 in the fourth quaarter to take the win at Northwood.

Tara Kanary scored 12 and Anne Yenrick had 10 for Rossford.

Cardinal Stritch got 12 points from Nicole Lamb and 11 from Liz Spewelk.

FREMONT - Kaela Wiseman scored 13 points and Rachel Hoffman added 10 points and 12 rebounds as Lakota won at Ross High. Emily Reynolds led Elmwood with 10.

At Fremont Ross, Emily Clark scored 15 points, Katie Jones added 14 and Samantha Stainbrook 12 for the Golsden Bears. Megan Bitter scored 12 and Haley Speaker 11 for the Wildcats.

DEFIANCE - Hailey Galvan led the Blue Streaks with 12 points, Abbey Graber and Jessica Ramirrz scored 11 each and Dani Leaser added 10. Kathleen Prezeslawski scored 10 to lead Delta.

Kirsten Wegman scored 12 points, Paige Wojcinski added 11 and Sammie Brisbin had 10 as Northwood won at Southview.

Leona Euler led North Baltimore with 12 points.

Kara Segler scored 15 points on five 3-pointers, Krista Wood had 12 points and Bethany Critchley 10 for Toledo Christian at Southview. Nollie Brown led Maumee Valley with 13 points.

OTTAWA - Samantha Seemann scored 25 points to lead Patrick Henry. Emily McGraw added 11. Carrie Griggs with 13 and Jessica Nienberg with 11 paced Miller City.

TIFFIN - Paige Polyak scored 11 points to lead a well-balanced Old Fort attack at Columbian High and the defense allowed only two points in both the first and third quarters. Kendra Kosta led Bettsville with seven.

BRYAN - Edon had three players in double figures led by Megan Wiler with 16 points.

TECUMSEH - Amelia Davis scored 13 points and had five steals to bring her career total to 187, a school record. Kaylee Foster led the Mules with 17 points.
