Patrick Henry loses; Archbold eliminated

FINDLAY - Crestview ended Patrick Henry's season with a 6-2 victory in a Division IV softball regional final.

The Patriots got a two-run home run by Tiffany Ehlers, but managed just three other hits.

Crestview scored a run in four of the first five innings for a 6-0 lead.

Ehlers, who went 2-for-3, then drove in Tori Meyer with a homer. On the mound, Meyer took the loss despite but had nine strikeouts.

Crestview improved to 26-3. Patrick Henry finishes 17-8.

ASHLAND - Archbold came out on the losing end of a pitchers' duel in a Division III regional final.

Blue Streaks senior pitcher Lauren Kern allowed just three hits but Archbold fell 1-0 to Magnolia Sandy Valley.

Archbold (22-4) got just one hit, a first-inning single by Courtney Day. The Blue Streaks had runners at second and third with one out in the opening inning, but the next two batters struck out.

Sandy Valley (25-5) finally got on the board in the seventh when it put together a single, a sacrifice bunt and then benefitted from two wild pitches.

Archbold was making its third straight appearance in the regional. Sandy Valley pitcher Alyssa Lancaster struckout 10.
