Martinez helps Lake knock off Gibsonburg

GIBSONBURG - Alan Martinez had a part in both touchdowns as Lake defeated Gibsonburg 14-7 Friday night in a Suburban Lakes League contest.

Martinez threw a 19-yard pass to Brandon Tantari in the first quarter and he scored on a four-yard run in the third quarter.

Derek Fisher scored Gibsonburg's only touchdown with 37 seconds left in the opening quarter on a 39-yard pass from Brett Diekman.

Lake (3-1, 1-0 SLL) generated 181 yards rushing and 40 yards in the air, while the Golden Bears (1-3, 0-1) produced 106 rushing yards and 64 passing.

GENOA - Genoa (4-0, 1-0) had 427 yards on the ground, while Woodmore was held to minus-4.

Greg Hillabrand ran seven times for 145 yards, including an 84-yard touchdown scamper. Conner Wendt rushed seven times for 121 yards and three touchdowns (12, 15, 66). Matt Murphy had two carries for 60 yards, including a

54-yard TD run.

Comets quarterback Matt Bassitt was 7 of 10 for 77 yards and two touchdowns, a 21-yarder to Wendt and a 10-yarder to Chris Cuevas . The Comets held a 521-116 advantage in total yards.

Tyler Pickard kicked field goals of 32 and 37 yards.

Woodmore is 0-4, 0-1.

TONTOGANY - Eastwood's Cody Seifert scored three touchdowns and accounted for 272 total yards for the Eagles (4-0).

Seifert rushed for 172 yards with scoring runs of 57 and 49 yards. He also had 100 yards receiving, including an 80-yard touchdown catch from Nick Schmeltz.

Schmeltz added a one-yard TD run and Cody Rolf had a 30-yard touchdown dash.

Brandon Abke had an interception and returned it 35 yards for a score.

Briani Volomar caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Sam Forshey for Otsego (0-4).
