Archbold holds off Wauseon's rally

WAUSEON — Archbold took a 24-3 lead at halftime, then had to hold off a strong Wauseon rally last night in the second half for a 31-24 Northwest Ohio Athletic League victory.

The Indians tied the game at 24 with just 3:42 left in the fourth quarter, but the Blue Streaks came back to gain the victory with just2:28 left in the game on a 5-yard run by Garrett Morton.

Morton scored three times for Archbold on the ground and passed for a fourth to Drew Smith.

Landon Schaffner passed 21 yards to Michael Chapa to start the Wauseon rally in the third quarter, Chapa scored on a five-yard run, and Travis Reynolds completed the Wauseon comeback with a seven-yard run to tie the game.

Archbold (6-3, 5-2 NWOAL) had 324 yards passing and 79 yards rushing. Morton was 28 for 45 in the air.

Wauseon (5-4, 4-5) had 358 yards rushing and 28 passing.

MONTPELIER — Lucas Pennington threw for 104 yards and two touchdowns for Evergreen (4-5, 2-5) and added 32 yards rushing. He connected with Clayton Wielinski on a 30-yard score and Chas Mossing on a 17-yard strike.

Chad Monahagn had 124 yards rushing and took the opening kickoff 75 yards for a score. Jackson Langenderfer had a nine-yard TD and a 28 yard score. Also scoring were Derek Truckor (22-yard run) and Tyler Good (one-yard run).

Joel Daft ran for 218 yards including a 95-yard touchdown and an 11-yard score for Montpelier.

Liberty Center 42, Delta 7

LIBERTY CENTER — Jake Elling scored three touchdowns, rushing 16 times for 79 yards as Liberty Center (6-3, 5-2) defeated Delta 42-7.

Kyler Miller passed for two touchdowns as he was 6 for 9 for 88 yards.

Josh Beverly scored on a seven-yard pass from Drew Salsbury for Delta (2-7, 2-5).

Bryan 34, Swanton 6

SWANTON — Levi Fisher carried the ball 18 times for 107 yards and two touchdowns for the Golden Bears (7-2, 6-1).

Fisher also hauled in a 49-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Cody Keil, who added a rushing touchdown.

Travis Hilton completed 5 of 12 passes for 46 yards for Swanton (1-8, 1-7).
