Boys basketball: Contat's buzzer-beater helps Maumee top Waite

Damon Contat's putback at the buzzer off a desperation long shot by teammate Jon Hall gave Maumee a 68-66 victory at Waite last night in boys basketball.

Hall made a 3-pointer with 40 seconds left to tie the game at 66, setting up the chance for the Panthers to win their first game this season.

Tyler Martin led Maumee with 14 points, Contat had 11, and Hall 10.

Ke-Sean Harris of Waite led all scorers with 23 points and Antonio Allen scored 14 for the Indians (0-3).

Quincy Coldwell scored 30 points and Damon Powell added 20 to lead the Rams to the road win.

Rogers outscored the host school 51-33 in the second to post the victory despite making just 13 of 31 free throws (41.9 percent).

Brad Celusta scored 21 points to lead the Generals, who also got 15 points from Jake Conklin and 14 from Andrew Donnel.

Robert Davis scored 27 points to lead Bowsher to a road win. Austin Boisselle added 16 points and Eric Daniels 10 for the Rebels (1-2). Northview (0-3) was led by Jake Zureich's 33 points.

DELTA - Jordan Turner finished with 18 points to lead the Panthers to a home victory.

Drew Salsbury had 15 points while Blake Green added 11 for Delta.

Ryan Smoyer scored 16 points to lead Otsego, which also got 15 from A.C. Limes and 13 from Matt Weisenborn.

FINDLAY - C.J. Gettys scored 20 points, while Justin Richter and Brock Ammons added 14 and 13, respectively, to help the Trojans improve to 2-1.

Xavier Brown led the Bobcats with 16. Tony Dible had 14, Chauncey Orr 13, and Max Hopfgartner 11 for Bowling Green (2-1).

ARCHBOLD - The Blue Streaks outscored visiting Kalida 23-14 in the final quarter to pull out the victory.

Garrett Morton finished with 20 points to lead Archbold (3-0), which also got 13 from Telly Fricke.

Jordan Basinger scored 19 points for Kalida (1-1).

PEMBERVILLE - Aaron Craft scored 26 points to help Liberty-Benton remain unbeaten on the season at 3-0.

Clay Rolf scored 12 points for Eastwood (2-1).

The Thunder came back from a 17-point deficit to claim the home win.

Jordan McCloud finished with 22 points for Monclova Christian (3-2), which also got 20 from Kenny N'Douba and 17 from Zach Black.

Anthony Henderson poured in 30 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as Start won its first game of the season. DeMond Christ added 15 points and Fred Norris had 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Spartans (1-3). Storm Patterson led visiting Linden McKinley with 17 points and Carnell Willouby added 13.

PORT CLINTON - Josh Francis scored 21 points and Ryan Hicks added 19 as Port Clinton improved to 3-0. Grant Weirich led Woodmore (0-3) with 18 points and Justin Garver had 10.

SWANTON - Zach Leahy scored 33 points to lead Rossford on the road. Tyler Kralovic (13 points), Mitchell Stewart (12 points), and Tyler Kanary (10 points) also were in double figures for Rossford.

Swanton's Ryan Johnson scored 30 points and Jerred Peabody added 16.

HOLGATE - Ryan Aelker scored 16 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter to power the Tigers' 19-8 run.

Matt Wisler finished with 14 points to lead Bryan.

PETTISVILLE - Landon Drewes finished with 12 points to lead the Rams to the road win.

Zane Miller scored 10 points for the Blackbirds.

MONTPELIER - Bronson Knecht scored 25 points as Edgerton prevailed on the road. Spencer Haftedt and Ethan Schroeder each had 11 points for the Bulldogs (2-0).

Chris Hephner scored 14 points and T.J. Reeder 10 for Montpelier (0-3).

NORTH BALTIMORE - North Baltimore turned up its defensive pressure and offensive scoring power in the fourth quarter, rebounding from a 39-31 deficit after three periods to outscore the Hawks, 26-14, in the final period.

The Tigers went on a 14-4 run to take the lead with about a minute-and-a-half left with Matt Archer (10 points total) and Craig Rench getting the key shots.

Chris Casey led North Baltmore (3-0) with 15 points, Corey North had 11. Henry Beausejour led the Hawks (2-2) with 17 points while Ricky Deichert and Jared Sturt each had 11.

DANBURY 54, SANDUSKY ST. MARY CC

LAKESIDE - Rodney Johnson finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Lakers.

Hunter Stephens and Tyler Boring added 13 and 11, respectively, for Danbury.

Brian Ferber had 20 for Sandusky St. Mary CC.
