Waite' Natasha Howard has been named a finalist for the Morgan Wootten Player of the Year Award.

The annual award, named after DeMatha High School coaching legend Morgan Wootten, recognizes the nation's top male and female high school senior student-athletes. In addition to their skills on the court, the winners must demonstrate outstanding character, exhibit leadership, and embody the values of being a student-athlete, both in the classroom and in the community.

The winners will be announced Wednesday. If selected, Howard will join an elite list of Morgan Wootten Award winners such as Candace Parker and Maya Moore.

“We couldn't be happier that Natasha is getting the recognition she has worked so hard for – she deserves every accolade,” said Jim Rivello, a local McDonald's owner/operator. “We're looking forward to seeing Natasha and the rest of the athletes show off their talents March 31 at Value City Arena during the McDonald's All American High School Basketball Games.”
