When the Northern Lakes League golf championships were decided last week at Riverby Hills, the Bowling Green boys claimed their first title since winning three straight crowns (2005-07), and Perrysburg collected its first title in the six-year history of girls competition.

Leading the way for BG, which totaled 303 to beat runner-up Napoleon by eight strokes, were All-NLL first-teamers Chien Han Sung, who tied Northview's Jeff Czerniakowski for second place with a 74, and Andrew Herringshaw, who joined teammate Evan Gardner in the three-way tie for fifth at 76. BG's Trey Walker shot 77 to place eighth.

Anthony Wayne senior Deion Tansel was the NLL tournament medalist, carding a 73.

The Generals entered play as the three-time defending champion.

BG also edged Napoleon 36-35 for the overall NLL title (including regular-season league matches). Northview finished third with 28 points.

Perrysburg senior Becca Tudor took girls' medal honors with a 78, one shot ahead of Southview's Bailey Moreland.

The Yellow Jackets totaled 330 to beat runner-up and defending champion Southview by 10 shots.

Joining Tudor and Moreland on the All-NLL first team was senior Jenny Lee; Southview's Kayla Ruffin, Northview's Julia DeBelly, and Anthony Wayne's Laurel Underwood.

Perrysburg also captured the overall NLL title, compiling 36 points. Southview was second with 31 points and Northview third at 26.

Woodmore boys, Eastwood girls take titles

Woodmore exited the former Suburban Lakes League as that league's final boys golf champion, and now the Wildcats have won the first boys title in the new Northern Buckeye Conference.

Having lost just one player to graduation from last year, the Wildcats needed a little help from Genoa to squeeze runner-up Eastwood out of a title share.

In an out-of-order finish to the NBC overall competition -- which consisted of four conference Jamboree events, plus last week's tournament -- Woodmore needed to place first in the tournament Sept. 20 at Green Hills, and do the same the next day in a jamboree event at Birch Run in North Baltimore.

The Wildcats took care of their end by winning both events, then gained an outright conference crown when Genoa placed second ahead of Eastwood at Birch Run. Teams received points on an 8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 sliding scale for each jamboree competition, and double the points for their placement in the NBC tournament.

Woodmore, edged the Eagles 44-43.

Eastwood's Tommy Blanchard was tournament medalist with a 74, and Woodmore was paced by its lone senior, Bill Blausey, who was third at 78. Also scoring in the top 10 in the tourney for the Wildcats were juniors Matt Zatko (80) and Mikayla Baer (81).

Baer, who placed 10th in last year's Division II girls state tournament, broke away from the Woodmore boys team to compete in the D-II girls sectionals in her bid to return to state individually.

The first NBC girls team championship went to Elmwood, mainly on the strength of their victories in all four conference jamborees. In last week's NBC tournament at Green Hills, Otsego shot 430 to edge the Royals by two strokes, but Elmwood closed with 46 points to claim the overall crown over runner-up Otsego's 38 points.

Otsego's Morgan Booth and Emily Myrice placed first and second, respectively, with rounds of 88 and 94 in the NBC tourney. Elmwood's four tourney scorers were Karly Haughawout, Savannah Baker, Alison Bentley and Taylor Carr.

Schulenberg leads Bryan to NWOAL title

In the Northwest Ohio Athletic League boys golf tournament at Auglaize Golf Course in Defiance, Bryan totaled 322 to edge Wauseon and Archbold, which were each two shots behind. Delta placed fourth at 329.

The top five individuals in the event were all seniors, with Bryan's Dalton Schulenberg taking medal honors with a 74, followed by Delta's Brandon Bailey (76), Archbold's Dylan Reisser (77), Liberty Center's Cody Knapp (78) and Wauseon's Colin Dietrich (79).

Also contributing to Bryan's winning score were seniors Adam McBride and Jake Brubaker, who each carded 82s. Junior Luke Shaffer and sophomore Shea Vogelsong tied at 84, which was the fourth contributing score for the Golden Bears.
