Clay's team, Perrysburg's Williams lead area contingent to state meet

Clay won the team title and Perrysburg senior Chelsea Williams captured the all-around individual title last week at the district gymnastics tournament at Bowling Green State University's Anderson Arena.

The Eagles posted 134.225 points. Perrysburg was second with 132.625.

Both teams go to the state tournament at Hilliard Bradley High School. The team competition is Friday, while the individual competition is Saturday.

The top five individuals in each event at the district qualified to state.

Williams captured the all-around title with 36.525 points. She also defended her district title in the vault (9.70), and took second in the uneven bars (9.25) and floor exercise (9.175).

Williams finished fourth in the all-around at state last year, while placing second in the vault and third in the bars.

Archbold junior Kinsey Smith finished second at district in all-around (36.425). Smith won titles on the bars (9.40) and floor (9.25), and was third in the vault (9.175).

Findlay's Alexa Settlemire finished third in all-around (35.900), followed by Northview's Sydney Audet (35.150), and Napoleon's Riley Dunbar (34.600).

Settlemire won a district title on the balance beam (9.025) and took second on vault (9.50). She was fifth on the bars.

Dunbar was runner-up on the beam and was third in floor. Audet took fourth in the vault, while Northview teammate Megan Matrisciano was fifth. Audet also qualified to state on the beam, finishing third, and Matrisciano was fourth on the floor.

Clay's Kylee Ault qualified to state on bars with a third-place fand on floor with a fifth, while teammate Jody Demeo was fourth on the beam.

Patrick Henry's Morgan Imbrock took fifth on the beam.
