Rockets rally to top Eagles; Comets roll

Oak Harbor 28, Eastwood 21

OAK HARBOR -- Ben Genzman caught a seven-yard touchdown pass from Austin Wiegand with 8:54 left in the game Friday night to complete the Rockets' come-from-behind victory.

Mark Konieczny gained 244 yards rushing on 35 carries and scored on a 13-yard run for Oak Harbor (2-1)

The Rockets (2-1) trailed 14-0 after one quarter and 21-14 early in the second half.

Wiegand completed 8-of-10 passes for 163 yards and three TDs, hooking up with A.J. Cecil on scoring strikes of 48 and 55 yards in the second quarter. Cecil had four catches for 132 yards.

Eastwood (0-3) outgained Oak Harbor on the ground by a 218-212 margin, with both Skylar Dierker (88 yards on 11 rushes) and Isaiah Conkle (80 yards on 19 carries) scoring touchdowns.

Conkle scored from 17 yards out, and Dierker on a 42-yard run.

Jake Schmeltz completed 8 of 16 passes for 130 yards and one TD, a 45-yarder to Blake Kohring.

Genoa 49, Port Clinton 7

GENOA -- Kyle Nutter ran for 169 yards and two touchdowns for the Comets, who led 28-0 at halftime in a game called with seven minutes to play because of lightning.

Genoa (3-0), which had 399 rushing yards, held Port Clinton to 70 yards rushing. Nutter scored on runs of 1 and 31 yards.

Casey Gose scored on a 30-yard pass from Logan Scott and also returned a kickoff 85 yards for a score.

Scott also threw a TD pass to Quentin Spiess.

Bryan Espinoza (five-yard TD run) and Max Reeder (three-yard TD run)each had 64 yards rushing.

Addison Rospert scored Port Clinton's only touchdown, a nine-yard run in the third quarter.

Woodmore 17, Tiffin Calvert 7

ELMORE -- Jake Matwiejczyk ran for one touchdown and threw for another to lead the Wildcats to the home win.

Matwiejczyk had a 12-yard scoring strike to Evan Ulinski in the second quarter and was 17-for-30 for 172 yards.

Matwiejczyk scored on a 53-yard run in the third period and finished with 61 yards rushing on 21 carries.

Malachi Brown added a 40-yard field goal for Woodmore (2-1).

Tiffin Calvert's lone score was a one-yard run by Tyler Long.
