Ben Silverman claimed medalist honors for a third straight year to lead Ottawa Hills to a fourth consecutive Toledo Area Athletic Conference boys golf championship.

Silverman, a junior, shot a round of 75 at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green as the Green Bears won the tournament with a score of 317.

Cardinal Stritch placed a distant second with 373, followed by Toledo Christian (407), Emmanuel Christian (428), Gibsonburg (505), Northwood (505) and Danbury 590.

Silverman was named TAAC player of the year. He placed fourth in the Division III state tournament last season.

Silverman's nine-hole average of 36.39 this year is better than the school record for a season set by Justin Kruse (36.53) in 2000. The Bears' team average of 152.71 is also on pace to break the school record (157.43 in 2000).

Ottawa Hills coach Jim McGill claimed his sixth straight conference coach of the year honor.

"Our team is playing the best of any team I've ever had in the last 23 years," McGill said.
