A Delta, Ohio, man who was injured last week in a collision on an icy highway in Fulton County’s Swancreek Township died Thursday in a Toledo hospital.

Cory Sprow, 38, who was a longtime Delta High School basketball coach and middle-school teacher in the Pike-Delta-York School District, died in University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital.

Fulton County sheriff’s deputies said Mr. Sprow lost control about 3:30 p.m. Dec. 26 on U.S. 20A while eastbound between County Roads 4 and 5.

He went left of center and into the path of a westbound vehicle driven by Matthew Trumbull, 18.

Two passengers in the Sprow vehicle, ages 9 and 6, were transported to Toledo Hospital, deputies said. Their names were not available.

Mr. Trumbull and his passenger, Kyle Herrin, 21, were treated at UTMC. Zachary Trumbull, 20, also a passenger, was treated at St. Luke’s Hospital, Maumee. Their hometowns were unavailable.

Deputies said Mr. Sprow was not wearing a seat belt. The children in his vehicle were wearing restraints, as were Mr. Trumbull and his passengers.
