Otsego, Woodmore both winners; Vancena leads Lake in rout of Genoa

Otsego 64, Eastwood 55

PEMBERVILLE — The Knights hit 11 of 13 free throws in the fourth quarter of boys basketball play Thursday night.

Jerome Griffin topped Otsego with 17 points, with John Thomas getting 13, Ryan Smoyer 12, and A.C. Limes 10 to go to 14-1 overall and 8-0 in the Northern Buckeye Conference.

Jake Schmeltz fired in a game-high 25 points to pace the Eagles (5-11, 5-4).

Woodmore 55, Rossford 49

Harrison Wooten scored 12 points to pace visiting Woodmore (6-8, 4-4) in a tight NBC game.

After trailing 20-18 at the half, the Wildcats outscored Rossford 37-29 in the second half to secure the win.

Derek Mack led Rossford (7-8, 5-3) with 13 points and Brian Burks added 10 points.

Lake 99, Genoa 62

GENOA — Jayce Vancena led five Flyers in double figures with 24 points.

Marcus Pierce added 20 points for Lake (13-2, 6-2 NBC), while Jared Rettig scored 19, Connor Bowen 15, and Cody Witt 10.

Luke Rightnowar scored 19 points to lead Genoa (2-11, 0-9), and Casey Gose and Amos Kauder both scored 11 points.
