Sharp shooting lifts Eagles boys to win; Elmwood girls suffer first NBC loss



Toledo Christian 90, Gibsonburg 71

GIBSONBURG — The Eagles shot 61 percent from the field to race to the Toledo Area Athletic Conference boys basketball win as Eric Cellier led the way with 27 points.

Dominique Pittman added 19 points, Josh Wenzeler 16, and Jessie White 11 for Toledo Christian (15-1, 10- TAAC).

Jordan Kreglow pumped in 24 for the Golden Bears (7-10, 5-5) while Andrew Cantrell added 14.

Cardinal Stritch 65, Emmanuel Christian 44

Austin Adams scored 21 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for Stritch as it won at home.

Robbie Bekier added 11 points for the winners (9-8, 6-4).

Trent Groenhout led Emmanuel (9-9, 4-6) with 14 points and Bobby Behan chipped in with 11

Ottawa Hills 42, Maumee Valley 26

Geoff Beans scored 19 and R.J. Coil added 13 for the visiting Green Bears (13-3, 8-2)

Davey Brown had 14 for the Hawks (9-7 4-6).

Central 55, Southview 40

Keith Towbridge had 18 and DeShone Kizer 12 for the host Irish (14-2).

For the Cougars (4-13), Nate Hall led with nine.

Northwood 74, Danbury 33

Tyler Williams poured in 25 points and John Segura added 16 for the host Rangers.

Chance Mackall led the Lakers with nine.

Start 76, Woodward 51

At Start, Scott Hicks led the Spartans' charge with 18 points while Dion Ivery added 17.

Start improved to 9-7 overall and 5-4 in the City League.

For Woodward (2-16, 0-9), Romoan Fane had 14 points and DeMarkus Darrington added 12.

Bedford 55, Tecumseh 30

TECUMSEH—Dennis Guss scored 14 points while Jackson Lamb added 10 as the Mules go to 12-1 overall and 7-0 in the Southeastern Conference.


Rossford 52, Elmwood 47

At Rossford, the Bulldogs established a nine-point halftime lead and then held on to deal Elmwood its first loss in Northern Buckeye Conference girls basketball play.

Julie Hotz totaled 17 points, including 12 in the first half, and Courtney Morris added 16 for the Bulldogs. Margo Jackson was key down the stretch, converting four of five free throws in the fourth quarter. Rossford advances to 10-9 overall, 8-4 in the NBC.

Brittany Gross topped the Royals (16-3, 11-1) with 14 points while Kristen Curtis added 13.

Lake 56, Woodmore 52

ELMORE — Katie Phalen hit five 3-pointers for a game-high 18 points for the Flyers (10-10, 8-4 NBC).

Sumer Woodruff added four 3s for 12 points in the overtime win.

For the Wildcats (11-8, 8-4), Grace Weirich had 12 points, while Mackenzie Johnson and Allie Wank each had 11.

Liberty Center 44, Monclova Christian 30

Niki Meyer poured in 20 points for the Tigers.

Elizabeth Keiser and Rachel Keiser each had eight for the Thunder.

Hilltop 49, Swanton 44

SWANTON — Hilltop (11-7) outscored the Bulldogs 7-2 in the overtime session for the win.

Samantha Lillimon led the way with 16 points and Emily Armbruster added 11 for the winners.

Eastwood 55, Fostoria 48

PEMBERVILLE — The Eagles (6-12, 5-7) prevail in overtime behind Kelsey Weaver and Presley Weaver who both scored 16 points.

Jada Hampton had 17 and Erica Moore 16 for the Redmen (0-20, 0-13).

Bedford 37, Tecumseh 24

TEMPERANCE — The Mules blanked Tecumseh in the opening quarter 13-0 on their way to a comfortable win.

Rachel Lewandowski scored 12 points, tossing in four three-pointers, for Bedford (11-5 overall, 6-3 Southeastern Conference).

Tecumseh is 4-9, 3-6.

Otsego 58, Genoa 47

TONTOGANY—Jessica Roberts scored 19, Kim Forshey 17 and Morgan Smoyer 14 with 15 rebounds for the Knights.

Ciara Albright had 23 for the Comets.
