Jayda Worthy

■ School: Notre Dame

■ Class: Junior

■ Height: 5-11

■ Position: Forward

■ Key stats: She’s the veteran workhorse on one of the most talented young teams in the state. There’s little or no flash to what she does but that has helped the Eagles (25-3) to back-to-back Three Rivers Athletic Conference titles (14-0 in league play each year). Her team-best 13.5 points per game is a clear display of her versatility. She is also the team’s top low-post defender and one of the team's best rebounders (7.1 per game). Her play has been an integral part of why Notre Dame is playing in the Division I state semifinals.

■ Coach says: “She does all the little intangibles to help us win. Most of the time she defends the other team’s top player. She gets every rebound when we need a rebound. She’s a steadying influence on the floor. She’s been in more games than any of the other kids. Being the only returning starter from last year, she’s had to really pick her game up, not only from a productivity standpoint, but from a leadership standpoint. Jayda is not a very vocal leader, but she leads by example. She goes out and does all the dirty work we need done to be successful. I think she kind of gets the rest of the team going when they see that. For an undersized post player she’s a very good finisher inside. She has good hands and she’s strong. She’s improved her decision-making and she’s always been a good defensive player.” — Travis Galloway
