St. John’s Jesuit junior Ryan Brown and sophomore Kevin Brown were the only area players to advance to the final day of competition at the state tennis tournament.
The Brown brothers were within a point of reaching the state final. But after leading 6-5 in the second set with a match point, the Titans fell to Sycamore’s Dylan Stern and Deepak Indrakanti in the semifinal.
The Browns, who were district champions, lost in the state’s third-place match in two sets.
Perrysburg senior Jeffrey Schorsch won a district title and advanced to the state tournament for a fourth year in a row.
The four-time Northern Lakes League singles champion fell in a second-round match. He had placed fourth at state as a junior.
Central Catholic junior Dugan Delp, the Three Rivers Athletic Conference champion, also made it to the state tournament in singles but lost in the first round.
Maumee Valley Country Day seniors Annu Reddy and Navdeep Bair competed at state in the D-II doubles, losing in the second round.
In the Ohio Tennis Coaches Association’s state team tournament, St. John’s advanced to the state tournament and finished fourth.
