BOWLING GREEN — The Bowling Green City Schools school board tabled a vote on a proposal that would require students who participate in interscholastic sports and school activities to pay a participation fee.

Prior to a school board meeting Tuesday at the high school, the school board took community input on the proposal, which would require a student to pay $100 to participate in a sport or a school activity that requires a coach or an advisor who receives a supplemental wage. A student would pay $75 for a second sport or activity and $50 for a third, and a cap would be set at $350 a family.

Activities that are graded and activities that do not receive financial support from the school district would be exempt from the pay-to-participate requirement, if passed.
