Scores on run, pass, punt return, kick return as Comets blast Oak Harbor

Genoa 63, Oak Harbor 7

OAK HARBOR — Casey Gose scored four ways on offense Friday night for the Comets in the Ottawa County battle for the Celestial Ball trophy.

The senior scored on a 42-yard punt return, a 12-yard TD run, a 47-yard pass from Logan Scott, and a 78-yard kickoff.

David Nutter led the Genoa (2-0) rushing attack with 153 yards on 23 carries while adding a score. Jake Wojciechowski had two touchdown runs while adding 91 yards on five carries, including a 68-yard score. Scott and Ryan Espinoza rushed TDs.

Andrew Heberling led the Rockets (1-1) with 50 rushing yards and a score.

Woodmore 56, Stritch 6

At Clay, the Wildcats got their second win of the season, riding a big night from quarterback Jake Matwiejczyk.

Matwiejczyk passed for 173 yards and scoring strikes to Dan Sprinski, Malachi Brown, and Evan Ulinski. Matwiejczyk also rushed for two touchdowns, while Tony Rozzi ran for two scores. Ulinski ran a kickoff back 81 yards for a TD.

Cardinal Stritch (0-2) got on the board on the final play with a 33-yard pass from Chris Blazevich to Jake Halcomb.

Lake 56, Northwood 20

Jared Rettig completed 11 of 17 passes for 154 yards and four touchdowns, and the Flyers used a 28-point first quarter to quickly pull away.

Marcel Bryan got going early for Lake (2-0), scoring on 62 and 2-yard TD runs in the first quarter, part of a 120-yard performance on 12 attempts.

Adam Duncan caught a 69-yard TD pass and kicked eight extra points for the Flyers. Todd Walters — who also returned a kickoff 86 yards for a score — Chandler Peterson, and Storm Lutz caught the other TD receptions. Nick Walsh added a short TD run.

Dominik Bermejo scored on a 13-yard run and an 83-yard kickoff return for Northwood (0-2), whose other TD came on Jake Davenport’s 35-yard run.

Lake racked up 414 yards of total offense compared to 123 for Northwood.

Wayne Trace 65, Otsego 0

HAVILAND — Colby Spiece threw four touchdown passes and ran for another score to lead Wayne Trace.

Otsego (1-1) struggled to slow the Raiders, who accumulated 393 yards in the air and 131 yards on the ground.

Rossford 45, Port Clinton 28

PORT CLINTON — Erik Davis rushed 14 times for 67 yards and three touchdowns for Rossford .

Kyle Sherman was eight of 15 for 176 yards and two touchdowns and added a four-yard touchdown run for the Bulldogs (2-0). Dylan Losiewicz ran for 134 yards and caught two touchdown passes on his way to 116 yards receiving.

Hector Aguirre added a 26-yard field goal for Rossford.

Brandon Moore was 16 of 30 passing for Port Clinton (0-2) for 191 yards and a TD. He added two touchdown runs.

Nathan Stubblefield returned a kickoff 92 yards and also caught a 66-yard touchdown pass from Moore.

Clyde 17, Eastwood 13

PEMBERVILLE — Tim Hoppe’s seven-yard touchdown pass to Alex Marshall in the third quarter proved the game-winner for visiting Clyde.

Devin Snowden ran for a 10-yard touchdown to put Eastwood on the board in the second quarter and Jake Schmeltz’s eight-yard touchdown pass to Grant Peters pushed Eagles ahead 13-10 with 4:06 left in the third quarter. But Clyde answered with the go-ahead score on its next possession.

Snowden led Eastwood with 69 rushing yards on six carries.
