Suntken leads big 2nd half as Wauseon beats Napoleon

Wauseon 34, Napoleon 21

WAUSEON — The Indians poured it on in the second half, breaking open a contest in which they trailed 21-14 at the break.

Senior quarterback Ty Suntken was a one-man wrecking crew for Wauseon (2-0), passing for 200 yards and three touchdowns on an 11-for-15 performance and running 20 times for 144 yards and two scores, including a 66-yarder.

Noah Castle, Zac Robinson and Kris Boysel were on the receiving end of Sundken’s scoring tosses. Boysel caught four passes for 87 yards.

Napoleon (1-1) had Anson Lankenau catch a touchdown pass from Zach Strall, Devon Armour dash 25 yards for another, and Blake Dunbar toss a scoring strike to Nate Rohrs. Armour led Napoleon in rushing with 91 yards.

Tiffin Columbian 27, Maumee 7

TIFFIN — The Tornadoes forced five turnovers and totaled 394 yards of offense in the decisive win.

Tiffin Columbian's Ryan Lynch rushed for 138 yards on 23 carries and scored on runs of 8, 6, and 1 yard. The Tornadoes, who led 13-0 at the half, rushed for 278 yards.

Maumee quarterback Ryan Utter rushed for 78 yards on 14 carries. He completed 14 of 22 passes for 116 yards, hooking up with Jeff Goatley on a four-yard TD pass to get the Panthers on the board in the fourth quarter.

Maumee tallied 228 yards (112 rushing and 116 passing). Bryan Autrey had five catches.

But Maumee fumbled four times.
