Green Bears rout Lakers; Golden Bears roll to victory

Ottawa Hills 53, Danbury 14

Austin Stevens scored two touchdowns and passed for two more Friday night to lead the host Green Bears to a Toledo Area Athletic Conference victory.

Stevens scored on runs of 9 and 4 yards in the first quarter, then connected with Eric Gross for a 10-yard TD pass in the second for a 24-7 lead at halftime for Ottawa Hills (3-5, 3-2 TAAC). Stevens also found Jack Wollenburg for a 20-yard touchdown pass in the third.

Wollenburg (five catches for 124 yards) had a 93-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, and Andrew Boesel (18 carries for 123 yards) and Vic Schlatter scored touchdowns for the Green Bears, who finished with 443 yards of offense, including 283 yards rushing.

Cody German and Jim Chamberlin scored touchdowns for Danbury.

 

Gibsonburg 64, Hilltop 0

WEST UNITY — Matt Tille completed 15 of 20 passes for 294 yards, six touchdowns, and no interceptions for the Golden Bears (4-4, 3-2).

Isaih Arriaga caught four receptions for 116 yards — all for touchdowns — covering 28, 31, 46, and 11 yards. Derek Angelone caught six passes for 127 yards and one touchdown. Adam Copley — who also returned an interception 27 yards for a score — had a 16-yard TD catch.

Alex Brent and Kane Gomez added TD runs for Gibsonburg, whose first points came on a safety when Brandon Campbell made a tackle in the end zone. Josh Dyer (13 carries, 77 yards) and Brent Hayward (15 carries, 83 yards) sparked the ground game.

Hilltop (1-7, 0-5) finished with only 60 yards total offense to the Golden Bears’ 501.

 

Edon 62, Cardinal Stritch 7

EDON — Kaden Sapp threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more to lead the Bombers.

Sapp threw scoring passes of 7 and 34 yards to Conor Hug and added TD runs of 8 and 15 yards for Edon (6-2, 4-1).

Trevor Green also ran for two touchdowns, scoring on runs of 10 and 53 yards, while Brock Thiel returned an interception 40 yards for score and Wyatt Zulch had a 55-yard kickoff return for a TD.

Chris Blazevich threw a nine-yard TD pass to Sean Donovan for the Cardinals (0-8, 0-5).
