Genoa’s 6th crown in 7 years; Wildcats rally past Knights

Genoa 59, Elmwood 0

GENOA — David Nutter rushed for 187 yards and three touchdowns Friday night as Genoa earned at least a share of the Northern Buckeye Conference championship.

It is the second straight NBC title for the Comets (9-0, 6-0 NBC) and their sixth league title in seven years (four in Suburban Lakes League).

Nutter ran in for scores from 8, 25, and 45 yards. Casey Gose added 101 yards and three touchdowns (13, 25, 11 yards).

Ryan Espinoza added a two-yard TD run. Cody Pickard kicked three field goals and the Comets added a safety. Genoa had 523 total yars (370 rushing, 153 passing).

Elmwood (1-8, 1-5) managed just six first downs and 138 yards of total offense.

 

Lake 48, Rossford 20

MILLBURY — Jared Rettig passed for 327 yards and five touchdowns as Lake won easily.

Todd Walters caught five passes for 134 yards and three touchdowns and Adam Duncan caught six for 129 and a TD for Lake (7-2, 4-2).

Joel Densic also hauled in a TD pass. Branden Short rushed 11 times for 100 yards and a 30-yard TD run and Nick Walsh had a one-yard TD run.

Rossford (5-4, 3-3) quarterback John Allen was 24-44 for 330 yards and three touchdowns. Nate Childress, Charlie Moore and Chase Baney caught TD passes.

 

Woodmore 36, Otsego 35

ELMORE — The Wildcats prevailed in a wild, back-and-forth encounter when Evan Ulinski hauled in a nine-yard touchdown pass from Jake Matwiejczyk with 27 seconds to play.

Matwiejczyk completed 16 of 30 passes for 276 yards and five touchdowns, and also rushing 24 times for 101 yards.

Ulinski caught 12 passes for 184 yards and two scores, while Dan Sprinski and Logan Fonseca also caught Matwiejczyk scoring tosses for the Wildcats (6-3, 3-3).

Otsego quarterback Cody Downs scampered 19 yards for a touchdown with 2:42 left in the game to give the Knights (4-5, 2-4) a short-lived lead.

Downs ended with 15 completions for 177 yards and a TD pass to Cole Gorski, who had eight catches for 118 yards.

Downs rushed 21 times for 137 yards and had a 39-yard TD run. Donald Hardison and Logan Hosley also ran for scores.

 

Eastwood 63, Fostoria 0

FOSTORIA — Devin Snowden rushed for 150 yards and three touchdowns for the Eagles.

Snowden also returned a kickoff 79 yards for a TD. Grant Geiser scored from 29 and 8 yards out, Ryan Mang added a 48-yard TD run, Brent Schlumbohm scored on a 21-yard rush, and Zach Thompson scored on a two-yard run.

Eastwood (7-2) 4-2) tallied 521 yards, while Fostoria (0-9, 0-6) only managed 82.
