Rangers top Green Bears to clinch a share of crown

Northwood 27, Ottawa Hills 7

Dominik Bermejo scored three touchdowns Friday night as the Rangers clinched at least a share of the Toledo Area Athletic Conference championship.

Bermejo scored from 12, 24 and 4 yards for the visiting Rangers (7-2, 6-0 TAAC).

The Green Bears (3-3, 3-6) outgained Northwood 291-236 and had the ball almost 31 minutes but could only score once on a two-yard run by Austin Stevens.

 

Gibsonburg 53, Danbury 21

GIBSONBURG — The Golden Bears (5-4, 4-2) rolled behind quarterback Matt Tille, who threw for five touchdowns and 208 yards.

Isiah Arriaga caught two passes for scores, while Adam Copley, Derek Angelone, Eric Jahna had one each.

Arriaga also returned a kickoff 89 yards for a TD, while Jacob Auld recovered a fumbe in the end zone for a score. Josh Dyer ran for TD and Angelone returned a punt for a TD.

Cody German scored twice for Danbury (2-7, 1-5), on a pass from Seth Vargo and a 75-yard run. Vargo tossed a touchdown to Jim Chamberlin.

 

Hilltop 24, Cardinal Stritch 20

Quinn Smith connected with Chad Champion on two touchdown passes and Hilltop held on for a road win.

Smith finished the game seven of 15 for 128 yards passing and also rushed in from 16 yards out. Justin Ashenfelter hit a 38-yard field goal.

Joe Sinay of Cardinal Stritch carried 13 times for 86 yards and two touchdowns.

Cardinals quarterback Brooks Gasser rushed for a 13-yard TD with 1:30 left in the game.

 

Edon 28, Toledo Christian 8

EDON — Trevor Green scored on runs of 24, 9 and 9 yards to lead the Bombers (5-1, 7-2)

For the Eagles (4-2, 5-4), Brett Freeman had a 27-yard scoring run.

Caleb Wotring led Toledo Christian with 135 yards on 20 carries.
