Connor leads Eagles with 20; Start hangs on to edge AW

Clay 58, Delta 57

DELTA — Clay built a 17-point halftime cushion, then held on to win Friday night in a girls basketball season opener.

Sam Enck’s two free throws with gave the Eagles a two-point lead with 13 seconds to play, then two from Kayla Schaefer provided a four-point advantage with four seconds left.

Morgan Connor paced the Eagles with 20 points, and Haley Hess added 16.

Brigan Wamer poured in a 32 points for Delta and Morgan Mattimore chipped in with 13.

 

Start 51, Anthony Wayne 50

The Spartans withstood a late rally by Anthony Wayne to win at home.

Start led by four points with about 20 seconds left, but Anthony Wayne hit a 3-pointer with three seconds left. The Generals stole the inbounds pass and took a timeout before missing a shot at the buzzer.

Kendra Jones led Start with 15 points, while Quasia Turner added 13 points.

Megan Bedard paced Anthony Wayne with 12 points, Jasmine Bonivel scored 11 and Sara Zankl had 10.

 

Springfield 60, Swanton 52

SWANTON — The Blue Devils led 19-8 after the first quarter and held on.

Natalie Yoder scored 21 points for Springfield, which made 15 of 21 free throws.

Emily Callicotte led the Bulldogs with 12 points and Maicie Wheeler scored 10.

 

Margaretta 51, Bowsher 27

Margaretta raced out to a 11-6 lead after one quarter and never looked.

Alex Michel led the way for Margaretta with 11 points. Lexi Harvey and Paige Black added 10 each.

Ciera Bryant paced Bowsher with 16 points.

 

Otsego 55, North Baltimore 33

TONTOGANY — Lindsey Donald scored 13 and Morgan Smoyer added 11 for the Knights.

The Tigers were paced by Kiah Powell with 10.

 

Bowling Green 74, Eastwood 21

BOWLING GREEN — Reagan Morman led the Bobcats with 15 points. Hanna Williford added 14, Hailey Maas had 12 and Lizzy Dill and Tyanna Smith tallied 11 points each. Smith had 10 rebounds.

Rachel Boici scored seven points to pace Eastwood.

 

Fremont Ross 60, Sandusky 44

FREMONT — The Little Giants seized command with a 17-4 opening quarter edge.

Valerie Samson scored 16 points, Elayna Ackerman 13 and Abbi Hasselbach 10 for Ross.

 

Evergreen 60, Toledo Christian 51

Evergreen used a 29-12 fourth quarter advantage to earn a road win.

Haili Mossing scored 15 points to lead the Vikings, while Carly Truckor added 14.

Darian Westmeyer tallied 20 points to pace Toledo Christian. Camille Gist added 19 points.

 

Hilltop 66, Liberty Center 37

LIBERTY CENTER — Hannah Bleikamp scored 18 points to lead Hilltop. Emily Armbruster added 12 points.

Niki Meyer and Andrea Weirauch had 11 points each for Liberty Center.

 

Old Fort 48, Woodmore 41

OLD FORT — Alli Adesperger led Old Fort with 18 points.

Allie Wank paced the Wildcats with 18.

 

Pettisville 47, Wauseon 44

WAUSEON — Lauren Hostetler had 15 as the Blackbirds rallied in the fourth quarter. Dana Fricke added 12.

Natalie Koenig scored 18 and Maddie Richer 10 for the Indians.

 

Genoa 65, Danbury 40

LAKESIDE — Ciara Albright paced Genoa with 21 points.

Haley Pickard added 16 for the Comets, while Carly Gose had 10 points.

Megan Stephens led Danbury with 14 points.
