Elmwood storms back from halftime deficit to get victory

Elmwood 47, Otsego 46

TONTOGANY — Sebastian Baxter hit a 3-pointer at the final buzzer to lift the Royals (6-14, 5-7) to a Northern Buckeye Conference boys basketball victory Wednesday night.

Baxter, who led Elmwood with nine points, capped an impressive comeback.

The Royals trailed 24-10 at halftime, but stormed back with six 3-pointers during a 23-10 third-quarter rally.

Jarrett Childress, Trevor Solether, and Aaron Arnold added seven points each for the Royals.

The Knights (8-11, 5-7) got 13 points from Schyler Scherff, 12 from John Thoams, and 10 from Jalen Myers.

 

Eastwood 80, Gibsonburg 68

PEMBERVILLE — Jake Schmeltz fired in 30 points and Grant Peters added 24 to lift the Eagles (13-5) to a nonleague victory.

Gibsonburg (14-5) was paced by Jordan Kreglow’s 26 points, and Andrew Cantrell added 17 for the Golden Bears.

 

Swanton 48, Evergreen 36

SWANTON — Bryce McComb’s 24 points paced the Bulldogs (8-9, 2-4).

Logan Pinkelman scored 19 points for the Vikings.

 

Whiteford 55, Morenci 45

MORENCI — Colin Lake led the Bobcats (10-3, 6-2) with 19 points while Troy Diller added 15 and Zach Perry 11.

Alex Thomas paced Morenci with 16 points.
