Girls basketball: Woodmore edges Genoa in NBC play

Central Catholic, Ross, Notre Dame win TRAC games.

WOODMORE 42, GENOA 41

GENOA — Katie Brugger scored 16 points as the visiting Wildcats held off the Comets in Northern Buckeye Conference girls basketball action Thursday.

Nora LaMunyon hit a 3-pointer for Woodmore (4-2, 2-2 NBC) in the fourth quarter. 

Caitlin Cruickshank had 16 points for Genoa (1-10, 0-4).

EASTWOOD 64, ROSSFORD 50

Jamie Schmeltz had 27 points to lead the visiting Eagles to an NBC victory against the Bulldogs.

Hannah Limes scored 16 for Eastwood (5-2, 3-1 NBC), and Sydnie Abke had 10 points.

Eastwood jumped out to a 17-7 first quarter lead, and led 30-21 at halftime.

Sammi Mikonowicz had 15 points to lead Rossford (3-5, 2-3). Megan Dunne added 10.

LAKE 77, FOSTORIA 61

FOSTORIA — Five Lake players scored in double figures, led by Kayla Bekier with 17 points, as the Flyers beat the Redmen in NBC play.

Bri Petroff added 16 points, Karissa McCloskey and Maddy Hodgson had 14 points, and Hayley St. John scored 11 points.

Asia Settles paced the Redmen with 25 points.

CENTRAL CATHOLIC 57, WHITMER 49

The Irish led from start to finish in a key Three Rivers Athletic Conference early-season showdown.

Grace Crawford had 23 points for Central Catholic (5-1, 4-1 TRAC) and Jaylen White scored 14 points.

Whitmer (5-2, 3-2) brought the deficit within four points but Central Catholic was 17-for-20 in the final two quarters from the free-throw line.

Abby Hickey led the Panthers with 23 points. Maddie Brown had 13 points, and Hregyn Blood added 10 points.

FREMONT ROSS 63, CLAY 37

FREMONT — Brooklyn Baptista led the Little Giants with 18 points as they beat the Eagles in TRAC action.

Olivia Baptista added 14 points and Jazmine Bulger and Jaysonna Sabiers each had 12 for Fremont Ross (7-2, 3-2 TRAC), which went on a 23-5 third-quarter run.

Elizabeth Vincent had 12 points for Clay (1-6, 0-5).

NOTRE DAME 55, FINDLAY 18

Ariel Cummings had 16 points to lift the host Eagles by the Trojans in TRAC play.

Kailah Johnson added 11 for Notre Dame (6-2, 5-0 TRAC), which held Findlay to just two field goals.

The Trojans (4-5, 3-2) did not have a player score more than four points.

SOUTHVIEW 51, ANTHONY WAYNE 47

Charnae Merrell had 13 points, and Tialyn King’s free throw with five seconds to go pushed the host Cougars past the Generals in Northern Lakes League action.

Halle Barnett added 10 points for Southview (5-1, 4-1 NLL).

Anthony Wayne was powered by Hannah Szul’s 15 points and Alix Carter’s 12.

PERRYSBURG 58, SPRINGFIELD 38

Ashlynn Brown had 13 points and 13 rebounds as the host Yellow Jackets roared by the Blue Devils in NLL play.

Nadeen Jemaa added 11 points for Perrysburg (7-0, 6-0 NLL).

Springfield (3-4, 2-3) was led by Cierra Harris’s 16-point effort.

BOWSHER 58, EMMANUEL CHRISTIAN 32

Victoria Alexander led the Rebels with 12 points in the nonleague home win.

A total of 10 Bowsher players scored in the win.

Olivia Pollock paced Emmanuel Christian (5-2) with 20 points.

ARCHBOLD 70, PETTISVILLE 41

The Blue Streaks were running on all cylinders as they rode 14-point nights from Andi Peterson and Kam Hostetler to a nonleague win against the Blackbirds.

Pettisville, which trailed 44-19 at the half, was led by Morgan Leppelmeier, who finished with 18 points.
