DeSales knocks off Bryan

COLUMBUS - Columbus St. Francis DeSales raced to a 21-0 first quarter lead and was never headed as it ousted Bryan 45-21 in a Division III football playoff game Friday night.

The Stallions (8-3) had a 45-0 lead before the Golden Bears (8-3) were able to score. Bryan, however, outscored DeSales 21-7 in the second half.

Adam Griffin scored three times for the winners, including a 62-yard punt return. Nick Gentile opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 41-yard run and passed 33 yards to Chris Rock for another.

Griffin had 114 yards in nine carries, Gentile added 56 in five carries. Gentile was 3 for 6 passing for 49 yards and the one touchdown.

Levi Fisher got Bryan's first TD in the third quarter on a one-yard run. Cody Keil hit Alex Nossaman with a 30-yard scoring pass for the second. Tommy Eyre's 30-yard run completed the scoring for the Golden Bears.

Eyre had 49 yards in four carries, Fisher added 32 in 10, and Tony Nededog gained 28 in six.

DeSales held a 303-175 edge in rushing yardage.
