Valdez leads Southview to victory over Bowling Green

    Southview 28, Bowling Green 14

    Quarterback Austin Valdez ran 15 times for 128 yards and two scores as as the Cougars won their league contest in Sylvania.

    Valdez scored both touchdowns in the second quarter, and both on 11-yard runs. Damian Griesinger scored the other two touchdowns on 10 and 1-yard runs as Southview (3-4, 2-2 NLL) rolled up 271 yards rushing on 32 attempts. The Cougars finished with 338 total yards.

    Quinn Donaldson led Bowling Green (2-5, 0-4) with eight catches for 73 yards, which included a 13-yard TD catch from quarterback Andrew Dennis, who also connected on a 16-yard TD pass to Ryan Emans. PHOTO GALLERY

    Maumee 40, Springfield 7

    MAUMEE — Steve Duby threw four touchdown passes and Andrew Schultz accounted for four scores to lead the Panthers (4-2, 2-2) past Springfield (1-6, 1-3).

    Duby threw three long first half touchdown passes — including two two to Schultz — as Maumee opened a 27-0 and cruised from there. Duby completed 10 of 16 passes for 249 yards with touchdown passes to Schultz (28 and 75 yards), Dominique King (65 yards), and Sean McGovern (32 yards). Schultz also rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.

    Springfield's Elijah Todd surpassed the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season with 88 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries.
