Eid, Miller take sectional titles

Notre Dame sophomore Nine Eid and Northview junior Megan Miller each captured Division I girls sectional singles championship titles Saturday at Jermain Park.

Eid knocked off top-seeded Hannah Pike, a senior from Central Catholic, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 to win the Section 1 title, and Miller made good on her top seeding by beating Perrysburg junior Jaden Northcutt 6-0, 6-0 in the Section 2 final.

In doubles finals, the Notre Dame freshman-sophomore duo of Alicia Nahhas and Teagan McNamara took the Section 1 crown by beating Eagles teammates Lindsay Clark and Kerigan McNamara, and the Southview senior-sophomore team of Emily Potter and Emma Podolsky topped Kate Miment and Maddie Mills of Northview 6-1, 6-3 to win the the Section 2 championship.

The top four singles and doubles finishers in each sectional advance to district competition later this week at Bowling Green State University.

Fremont Ross duo wins sectional

SANDUSKY — Aubrey Cook, the top seed from Norwalk, defeated teammate Sara Stoll, 6-3, 6-4 to win the Division I sectional singles championship at Sandusky High School.

In doubles, the Fremont Ross team of Sara Gray and Jenna Overmyer outlasted Norwalk’s Kayla Pelham and Hannah Herner, 2-6, 7-5, 6-3.

Generals doubles team claims title

ADA — Top-seeded senior Meghan Gray of Findlay captured a Division I sectional singles title at Ohio Northern University by beating senior Cassadie Baker of Bowling Green, 6-0, 7-5.

The doubles crown at ONU went to Anthony Wayne senior Sarah Jankowski and junior McKenzie Krieg, who knocked off the top-seeded team of Bowling Green senior Molly Fenn and junior Sabrina Smith, 6-4, 6-3 in the championship match.
