Findlay leads area teams at state golf tournament

COLUMBUS — After day one of the Division I state golf tournament at Ohio State, Toledo-area teams have plenty of catching up to do in today’s second round. For the boys, Findlay sits in 11th place with a team score of 344 and St. Francis is in 12th place with a total of 346. For the girls, St. Ursula is in 11th place with a score of 357 and Findlay is in 12th place with a score of 361.

Findlay senior Eli Stacy shot a team-low 80 to tie for 15th place overall and teammates Spencer Shoemaker, Earl Streacker, and Trevor St. Jean all shot an 88. Seniors Hayden Austin and Lee Rinker led St. Francis, shooting an 84, good for a tie for 36th place overall. Seniors Josh Williams and Nick Mitchell chipped in with rounds of 89. Northview senior Adam Graeff was the lone individual qualifier from the area and shot an 88 to tie for 50th.

St. Ursula sophomore Kathryn Young led the team with an 83, good for a tie for 33rd place, while freshman Lizzie Win shot an 87. Findlay senior Erin Scoby shot a team-best 87 to tie for 49th place and seniors Kelly Rowe and Taylor Tweed shot a 90 and 91 respectively.

Competition continues today with the boys on the Scarlet Course and the girls on the Gray Course.
