Rangers repeat as TAAC champions

Northwood 42, Cardinal Stritch 0

Northwood won the Toledo Area Athletic Conference title outright for the second straight season by shutting out host Cardinal Stritch on Friday night. The Rangers have won five of the last six championships

Dominik Bermejo rushed for a 14-yard touchdown, caught a 10- yard TD pass from Nick Russell, and scored on a 30-yard interception return for the Rangers (10-0, 7-0 TAAC).

Russell was 5 of 9 passing for 91 yards and two TDs. He also hit Brandon Kretz on a nine-yard scoring strike. Jordan Schell rushed four times for 127 yards, including an 80-yard TD run. Evan Perkins added a four-yard TD run.

The Rangers allowed only 82 rushing yards and 24 passing yards for the Cardinals (1-9, 0-7).


Ottawa Hills 14, Toledo Christian 7

Thomas Kropp rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns to lead host Ottawa Hills.

Kropp scored a 13-yard touchdown run to open the scoring in the third quarter and followed with a 12-yard TD run in the fourth quarter. The Green Bears (7-3, 6-1) had just 146 yards of total offense.

Josh Winzeler ran in from one-yard out for the Eagles (4-6, 3-4).


Edon 44, Gibsonburg 20

EDON — Reid Bowling ran 19 times for 115 yards, which included touchdowns from 43 and nine yards, as the Bombers won their regular-season finale in the TAAC.

Brick Thiel added three catches for 130 yards and two touchdowns — 44- and 65-yard passes from Kaden Sapp, who completed 6 of 12 passes for 163 yards. Matt Cook added a couple one-yard TD runs for Edon (7-3, 5-2 TAAC).

Gibsonburg (4-6, 4-3) was led by Matt Tille, who completed 12 of 24 passes for 183 yards and two touchdowns, from six yards to Jordan Jahna and from 48 yards to Isaih Arriaga. Tille also ran 24 times for 99 yards and a touchdown.
