Bedford volleyball tripped up in Class A title game

BATTLE CREEK — The Bedford volleyball team fell short of a MHSAA Class A volleyball championship on Saturday after getting swept by No. 3 Macomb Dakota. The Cougars swept the Mules in three straight sets (25-22, 25-21, 26-24) to clinch their first-ever state title.

Bedford was led by senior Kayla Gwozdz with 14 kills while sophomore Nicole Rightnowar put up 11 kills, three digs and two blocks. Setter MacKenzie Andrews had 37 assists and five digs in the loss while Ellen Hays led all defenders with 18 digs.

With the loss, the Mules finish the season 65-13-3 overall.
