Boys Basketball roundups: Smith tallies 31 to lead Panthers' win

Whitmer 83, Southview 59

Ricardo Smith scored 31 points, while Nigel Hayes passed the 1,000 career point mark as Whitmer cruised in their boys basketball season opener on the road.

Hayes scored 13 points and has 1,009 career points. Jon Ashe and Chris Parker added 12 points, while Luke Hickey scored 11.

Nate Hall led Southview with 17 points and Matt Morrison added 16. J.J. Pinckney also had 12 points.

Perrysburg 48, St. Francis 34

Nick Moschetti led the Yellow Jackets with 17 points.

Perrysburg finished 14 for 23 on free throws and led 22-20 at the half, but scored 23 points in the fourth quarter.

Lamar Carswell led St. Francis (0-1) with six points.

Findlay 69, Fostoria 35

FINDLAY — Austin Gutting scored 20 points and Joseph Davidson added 17 as in the season opener for both teams.

Dominique Fuller led Fostoria (0-1) with 13 points as Fostoria trailed Findlay 37-11 at halftime.

Woodward 48, Lima Temple Christian 45

The Polar Bears dominated the fourth quarter by a 15-5 count to come away with the home win.

Anthony Bell and Breon Strozier each scored 13 points for Woodward. Romoan Fane pulled down 15 rebounds.

Justin Kroehler led Temple Christian with 15 points.

Lake 44, Toledo Christian 41

The Flyers (1-0) celebrated the opening of their new gymnasium with a victory as Jared Rettig scored 15 points and Connor Bowen added 12.

For Toledo Christian (0-1), Josh Winzeler and Melvin Thomas both tossed in 10 points.

Leipsic 50, Holgate 33

HOLGATE — Devin Mangas led Leipsic with 18 points.

Landon Grim paced Holgate with 17 points.

Emmanuel Christian 75, Bettsville 21

BETTSVILLE — Ryan Creech scored 22 points to lead Emmanuel Christian.

Logan Robinson led Bettsville with eight points.
