2 Notre Dame doubles teams, Northview’s Miller reach state in tennis

Notre Dame played at a high level throughout the season, culminating with two doubles teams advancing to the Division I state tennis tournament.

Notre Dame's doubles teams of Alicia Nahhas and Teagan McNamara, as well as Lindsay Clark and Kerigan McNamara, reached the state competition.

Nahhas and McNamara stopped North Canton Hoover's Natalie Bourlas and Nicollette Bourlas 6-1, 6-3 in an opening round before losing to Dublin Jerome's Sarah Stein and Emma Stein.

Clark and McNamara lost an opening-round match to North Canton Hoover's Lauren Daugherty and Alivia Arnold.

The Eagles were also one of the eight teams to qualify for the Ohio Coaches Tennis Association's state team tournament.

Also, Northview junior Megan Miller won a Division I district singles championship to qualify for the state tournament.

She topped Dublin Coffman's Ashley Tan 6-3, 6-4 in the opening round match before losing in three sets to Kings Mill Kings' Amina Ismail. Miller also led the Wildcats to the Northern Lakes League team title.

In Division II, Oak Harbor's Ashley LaFountain advanced to the second round in singles, defeating Tipp City Tippecanoe's Sierra Nellessen 7-5, 6-2 before falling to Millersburg West Holmes' Rachel Nelson.

Maumee Valley Country Day's Rochell Issa was a state singles qualifier. She lost an opening-round match to Portsmouth's Ali Miller in two sets.

Ottawa Hills' Shivani Bhatt and Lilli Boice reached the state doubles competition, but lost to Tiffany Lau and Mary Anne Click of the Columbus School for Girls in the first round.
