Perrysburg defense carries Yellow Jackets to 60-50 win over BG

BOWLING GREEN – Perrysburg utilized suffocating defense on Bowling Green tonight as the Yellow Jackets girls basketball team posted a 60-50 win over the Bobcats.

Perrysburg led by eight points at the half and then opened the third quarter with a 13-2 run to go up 41-22.

The Yellow Jackets remained undefeated overall and in the Northern Lakes League (3-0) by forcing 25 Bobcat turnovers. They came up with four steals during the key run in the third quarter.

Perrysburg junior Sarah Baer finished with a double-double as the 6-foot-1 center scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Senior Maddy Perry also scored 14 points, while Allex Brown added 10 for the visiting Yellow Jackets.

Bowling Green (2-3 overall, 1-2 NLL) was led by junior guard Hanna Williford, who finished with a game-high 16 points. Livvy Dill chipped in with 11 points for the Bobcats, who closed to within 10 points with a late third quarter run.
