Yellow Jackets clamp down, stop Wildcats

The Perrysburg girls basketball team found the best way to contain Napoleon: Limit its scoring options.

Or better yet, completely cut off its scoring options.

In a 44-11 win Tuesday against the Wildcats, the Yellow Jackets neutralized Napoleon in the second quarter, keeping it scoreless on the four shots it took.

“Our defense did amazing, making sure they didn’t take any shots, and I think we did really well with it,” Perrysburg center Sarah Baer said.

At the same time, the Yellow Jackets found a way to maintain their intensity, while taking a lead that swelled to 25 points before halftime. Read more here...


Anthony Wayne girls basketball team stays perfect

A huge second quarter and balanced scoring lifted the Anthony Wayne girls basketball team to a lopsided 67-41 win against Northern Lakes League preseason favorite Northview on Tuesday.

The Generals led by five after the first quarter before seizing total control in the second quarter by outscoring the Wildcats 22-10. Anthony Wayne then coasted at home.

Seven of the 10 Generals scored points, and three reached double figures. They prevented any hope of a Wildcat comeback by hitting 21 of 22 free throws, including 14 of 14 in the second half. Read more here...
