Balanced Evergreen knocks off Northview

Titans slip past St. Edward on final shot; Maumee, Toledo Christian gain victories

Evergreen 74, Northview 60

METAMORA — Evergreen made 22 free throws in the fourth quarter to pull away Saturday night from Northview in a boys basketball game.

Jamie Wright scored 20 points, Matt Brighton scored 19, Cory Mossing scored 17 and Logan Pinkelman added 11 for the Vikings (6-2).

Jeff Czerniakowski and Conner Hartnett paced Northview (4-3) with 21 points each.

St. John’s 57, Lakewood St. Edward 55

LAKEWOOD, Ohio — Parker Ernsthausens tip-in with 1.2 seconds left was the difference. Marc Loving scored 18 and Austin Gardner added 14 for the Titans (6-1).

For the Eagles (4-1) Marsalis Hamilton led with 22 and Tony Vuyancih added 11.

Maumee 51, Eastwood 44

The Panthers withstood a late Eastwood rally to win at home.

Dominique King scored 15 to pace Maumee and Sean McGovern added 12.

Jake Schmeltz led Eastwood with 15 points and Kevin Sweeney scored 13.

Perrysburg 46 Sandusky Perkins 43

The Yellow Jackets withstood a late rally by Perkins and hung on to win at home.

Shane Edwards scored 13 points to lead Perrysburg (5-1), while Bryant Byrd and Nick Moschetti added 11 points each.

Nic Williams and Brandon Smith paced Perkins (4-2) with 11 points each.

Lake 73, Woodward 44

MILLBURY — The Flyers used a balanced attack to outlast Woodward.

Jared Rettig led Lake with 17 points. Connor Bowen scored 16, Tyler Landis scored 12 and Jayce Vancena added 10.

Craig Kirkwood paced Woodward with 13 points, while Romoan Fane added 12.

Whitmer 51, Defiance 24

Bolting out to a 16-4 lead the Panthers (5-1) never looked back. Ricardo Smith scored 19 and Nigel Hayes chipped in 14.

For the Bulldogs (3-2), Katwan Singleton led the way with seven.

Southview 84, Sandusky 37

Nate Hall scored 21 ponits and Matt Morrison added 19 for the host Cougars (1-6).

Southview jumped to a 43-19 lead at the half and were never threatened.

Domonic Kirkwood led Sandusky with eight points.

Toledo Christian 56, Clyde 35

BOWLING GREEN — The Eagles captured the Northwest Ohio Classic title at the Stroh Center, winning the championship game with a balanced offense that scored 14 points in every quarter.

Eric Cellier led the way for Toledo Christian (6-1) with 20 points, while Melvin Thomas added 10.

Clyde got nine points each from Derek Gray and Paul Cullen.

Fremont St. Joseph 59, Oak Harbor 51

FREMONT — Jordan Sessler paced Fremont St. Joseph with 16 points.

Connor Dudley and Zack Yeckley added 15 points each for the Streaks (5-2).

Greg Haar scored 16 points for Oak Harbor (2-3) and Austin Wiegand added 11.

Napoleon 38, Holgate 29

HOLGATE — Jordan Lauf scored 13 points and Blake Dunbar added 11 to help Napoleon (2-4) win.

Mitchell Gonzalez paced Holgate (2-5) with 13 points.

Fayette 45, Morenci 43

MORENCI — Chandler Sandford hit two free throws with 26 seconds left to give Fayette (5-3).

Sanford scored 18 points the Eagles.

Alex Thomas led Morenci with 13 points.

Northwood 59, Bettsville 28

Tyler Williams poured in 29 points and Brandon Hoffman added 10 points to lead Northwood to an easy road victory.

Gibsonburg 73, Arcadia 56

GIBSONBURG — Andrew Cantrell scored 19 points to lead Gibsonburg.

Matt Tille added 16 and Tyler Ernsthausen scored 15 for the Golden Bears.

Casey Mock led Arcadia with 27 points.

Old Fort 70, Maumee Valley 57

OLD FORT — Cole Davidson had seven 3=pointers among his 30 points to lead the Stockaders (7-0).

Dalton Perry added 21 and A. J. Phillimore 10.

For the Hawks (3-3) Davey Brown had 16 and Lucas Isaza 11.

Delta 60, Stryker 39

STRYKER — Scott Garlinger scored 14 points and Landon Brown added 11 points to lead Delta.

Wauseon 50, Rossford 48

WAUSEON — Collin Bzovi scored 18 points to lead Wauseon.

Derek Mack led Rossford with 18 points and Mack Miller added 15 for the Bulldogs.
